"Very bright was that sword when it was made whole again; the light of the sun shone redly in it, and the light of the moon shone cold, and its edge was hard and keen. And Aragorn gave it a new name and called it Andúril, Flame of the West." - Tolkien
Was the "defrocking" not appealed to the GA? I assumed it was, but maybe that was a bad assumption. I'm not sure about the PCA, but in the OPC if a verdict is appealed (within 10 days) it would not be executed until after the appeal process is complete (assuming the judgment still stands at that point).
@natepaschall Regarding Westminster's use of the language, Rev. Lee Irons argues very well in https://t.co/YdoQykn7OU (starting on page 12) that "The meaning of 'maintain piety' in the revised Confession has changed, even though the words have not."
"... we've come to some better thinking, frankly, on these matters. We disestablished the church in this country - thank God!" - Dr. Alan Strange (~37:50 in https://t.co/OoOVAMa3br)
Some of you have been asking about when my book on the Covenant of Grace will be out. January 19, 2027! Here's the link to pre-order it . . .

Dr. Lane Tipton (OPC) on "the weaker vessel" in 1 Peter 3:7
"It is the representation of Christ and the Church and nothing else. Nothing else. It's not ontological difference. It's not anything other than a presentation of Christ and the Church." - Dr. Lane Tipton
After seeing some of the responses, I regret having posted this. I posted it because I appreciate Dr. Tipton's take (that's not to say 100% agreement). I am thankful for his ministry, I am very thankful he is on the OPC CN study committee, and I am very thankful that social media, at present, has little to no influence on the courts of the OPC.
Most civil governments across the ages have believed that "government must promote true religion"...to the great detriment of those who actually held the true religion.
