My honest and unfiltered take on #DearX's ending:

As someone who have also read the manhwa, I like the ending of the drama better.

The original webtoon ending involves an innocent life, Ahjin's child, who is used as a tool for revenge. This could potentially signal a repeat of the same cruel fate that Ahjin had faced growing up. Just gonna be the same damn cycle that could potentially ruin the child's well-being. And I don't like that.

The drama ending, however, is much more realistic to me. Yes, Ahjin survived, but at what cost? She have lost everything, specifically Jaeo, who was her only ever trusted lifeline.

Ahjin survived, but she survived alone. She doesn't have anyone anymore.

Her world is much emptier now, fully devoid of anyone she can trust. And I think that it is a much fitting and cruel punishment for a character like Ahjin. Since death would only be a show of mercy for her.

If one actually deviates from the lens of the original source material (webtoon) and just look at the drama as its own standalone story, Dear X's ending makes perfect sense.

Lastly, fck Junseo. I hated his guts in the webtoon, I hated him too in the drama.

Gotta hand it to Ahjin for her endurance to survive. Even with everyone gone she still have a strong will to continue living, it’s apt to how her character have always been like. The ending clearly showed she live for herself and no one else🔥
