New study (Am J Prev Med) in 8 countries estimated that 3.9% (Colombia) to 13.7% (USA) of all premature deaths (ages 30-69 y) are due to UPF consumption—more than 100,000 deaths annually in the United States alone.

A high-quality Framingham cohort study finds that high UPF consumption raises Alzheimer’s disease risk by 2.5x—showing a robust association even after accounting for potential reverse causality and misclassification, and controlling for key confounders.

The @novonordiskfond - which makes money from obesity drugs - is holding a meeting with food industry funded scientists to 'redefine' an unhealthy diet. This is bad for public health and more than 80 of the world's leading independent food scientists are calling for a boycott. 🧵
🇧🇷Brazilian President Lula announces that ≥ 85% of the 2025 federal budget for public school meals—serving 10 million children in 150,000 schools—must be allocated to raw or minimally processed foods and freshly prepared meals (≥ 90% in 2026).

Honored to author a JAHA viewpoint on UPFs for the Centennial Collection celebrating 100 years of the American Heart Association. In it, we share our insights on dietary guidance to prevent cardiovascular disease (and to promote good health) in the USA.

'The industry’s approach to UPFs so far has ranged from scepticism to suspended judgment. The stakes are high. If pressure from governments ratchets up, the food industry will have to do more than tweak its recipes or roll out some new product lines (cont) https://t.co/eZf8wk32q6
Thank you Hon. We must seek opportunities at all times. I visit organisations ready for an interview and I talk to CEOs or Managing Directors for jobs.
Also, I have got all my Scholarships from Newspapers. Let's apply as much as we can.
Success is all about being positive, optimistic & determined, get out of your comfort zone & look 4 a job you will get it. I did that myself in 207 when I was in my 2nd year at UCU. With zero connections i walked into the office's of UMC & UBC & got both jobs at the same time.

UPFs are defined by Nova based on extent and purpose of industrial food processing. In sum: ‘formulations of food substances and additives created to replace fresh foods and freshly prepared meals’. Evidence that this purpose is effectively achieved here: https://t.co/2bLQf9dQhc
