She will be collaborating with Finland National Inst. Health & Welfare to use their data on Perfluorinated Compounds (PFCs). This includes toxicology, measurement, exposure levels and birth outcomes.

She is writing a proposal to study PFCs and Cerebral Palsy based on data showing that exposure to these compounds can cause birth defects.

For our final presentation, Department Chair and Professor Martha Werler is back to share her research idea for a nested case-control study of Cerebral Palsy.

What are some ways you might be able to use Interpersonal Neurobiology in your courses?

There are various way Interpersonal Neurobiology can be applied in teaching like asking students at the beginning of a course: which topics interest you the most?; which ones are most applicable to your clinical and career goals?; how can I be most helpful to you in this course?

A) Students share interests, learning strengths and challenges; B) Enhances communication and sensitivity to student issues; C) Should result in better learning, retention, application of epi.

And why apply it to #Epi?

A) Interpersonal connections and emotional investment are key to learning; B) Students reflect on course material from their own perspective and understanding others’ perspectives; C) This creates interpersonal connection with instructor and other students, facilitating learning.

Interpersonal neurobiology is an interdisciplinary theory that posits that the interface between human relations is essential to development, mental health, and learning.
