“Our stories are important. The experiences of women and people of color in corporate America must be shared...Our stories can lead to action that creates company and community cultures where everyone feels respected, valued, and heard.”
Why we do what we do. 💛

Shout-out to everyone who joined us for #LetsTalkSis tonight! We missed you and are so glad we were able to come together and just be in community.
We hear you, we have so much more on deck and look forward to seeing you for the next event!!
We can also pursue opportunities to learn and grow beyond our buildings. Fellowships are out there that allow us to continue the work we love in the classroom or elsewhere while still learning, growing and developing.
#LetsTalkSis
We get to seek out places that pour into us and are committed to letting us fully stand in our passions and interests. Too often we feel 'stuck' but we don't have to be.
#LetsTalkSis
We have passions and interests that may not keep us in the classroom, but we don't all want to be coaches or admin. Does that mean we don't have a pathway?
#LetsTalkSis
I'm thinking where do I want to go next with my career. I love teaching, being around my Ss, learning from them. But I'm thinking what's next for my career? Where can I go from here?
#LetsTalkSis
It seems like there's a different set of expectations for leaders of color at my school. My coach is a WM & he hasn't observed me all year. He's canceling meetings, not rescheduling . But his counterpart - a WOC, is running herself ragged to meet w/teachers.
#LetsTalkSis
How can we balance expectations for instruction - even if it's virtual - and honoring teachers trying out different methods for virtual instruction and navigating this new medium?
#LetsTalkSis
We have first year teachers who have not stepped foot into a classroom. They have only taught virtually. They may not have even seen their Ss faces. So we don't even know if they're there or how they're doing with the material.
#LetsTalkSis
A lot of teachers are ready to leave the profession because of this past year. People are burned out and feel like they did not sign up for this.
#LetsTalkSis
When the pandemic first happened last year, I had to track how many people responded to texts/emails and it felt like we were checking that people were working. What other profession has to 'prove' they're working??
#LetsTalkSis
Ss are being honest about what classes/subjects feel more reasonable for them to do virtually. We need to listen to them. We need to be creative and respond to them based on what they tell us, but we have to actually LISTEN.
#LetsTalkSis
I've never had as many meetings in a school year as we've had this year! It's like folks think everyone is free and available because we're virtual. NO.
#LetsTalkSis
As a teacher, I'd rather be in the building than at home though so I feel like I can actually 'end' my day. When I'm working from home, meetings, teaching and being a mom that feels challenging at times. It makes drawing the line really tough.
#LetsTalkSis
Imagine if we rethink how we deliver services - how we educate? Offering hybrid options so that Ss have the ability to engage with instruction int he way that makes the most sense for them? That sets them up for success.
#LetsTalkSis
We love the word 'differentiation' in education, but this has presented us with the opportunity to live up to that name and truly differentiate. We can't lose that.
#LetsTalkSis
This pandemic has changed so much of our lives - it needs to change how schools work. Some students thrived in this environment. Less distractions, less conflict - this works for some students, teaching is not a monolith.
