Have you heard of Ontario’s Slow Down, Move Over Law? Here’s what you should know:
When approaching an emergency vehicle with flashing red or red and blue lights, or a tow truck with flashing amber lights stopped on the side of the road, drivers are required by law to:
• slow down and proceed with caution
• if the road has two or more lanes and it’s safe to do so, move into the other lane to provide space. These measures help protect emergency response personnel.
Let’s all do our part to keep our first responders safe on our roads and highways!

Giving Back to the Community!
Thank you to GlobalMedic for the generous skids of rice to pass along to Helping Hand Food Bank. Together, we’re helping ensure local families have access to essential food supplies.
This Family Day, protect your loved ones from carbon monoxide (CO). Make sure you have working CO alarms near sleeping areas and on every level of your home. For more information, reach out to our Fire Prevention Division at 905-775-7311 ext. 6005.
Power outages can happen suddenly and last longer than expected. Ensure your home has battery-operated or battery-backup smoke alarms and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms. Electrically connected alarms will not work during an outage unless they have battery backups.
Instructors assembled! Planning is underway for the February 2026 Ice Rescue Ops & Tech Certification Course. This course is an intensive practical application of ice rescue philosophy and techniques meeting NFPA 1006 standards.

On Halloween Eve, keep the scares in the costumes- not your home.
Test your smoke alarms monthly.
Ensure you have working batteries.
Place them on every level of your home and outside all sleeping areas.
Practice your escape plan.
No tricks, just lifesaving tips.
You can’t see it.
You can’t smell it.
But carbon monoxide can strike any time of year.
If you’re using fuel-burning appliances, don’t wait for cold weather to think about safety.
Get them inspected, cleaned, and maintained.
