So as usual, Brian leaves out the details. The Secretary of the Navy, announced the name Doris Miller, literally moments after Biden was sworn in. Biden had already decided on the name as part of his DEI push. That said Doris Miller is more than deserving of a ship named in his honor. It’s not all that surprising that a carrier be named after a sitting president, given we already started naming carriers after living presidents.
