Meet our fifth and final 2026 BWXT STEM Scholarship recipient: Luke Ducich! 👏
Luke Ducich, son of Nick Ducich, director of business development for Advanced Technologies, graduates from Lightridge High School with an outstanding 4.46 GPA.
This fall, Luke will head to Auburn University to study aerospace engineering, with goals of helping design the next generation of aircraft and spacecraft.
Through his years at the STEM‑focused Academies of Loudoun, he strengthened his passion for aerospace, engineering and the systems that make exploration possible.
Beyond academics, Luke captained both the football and lacrosse teams, contributed to the National Honor Society and volunteered with elementary students and the Ohana Preservation Foundation, supporting families in need through hands‑on community projects.

Introducing our fourth 2026 BWXT STEM Scholarship spotlight: Elizabeth “Liza” Johnson! 🎉
Driven by a passion for sustainability and innovation, Liza will take her talents to North Carolina State University this fall to study engineering with a focus on textile engineering. Her dream: to help create the sustainable clothing of the future.
As a standout soon‑to‑be graduate of Jefferson Forest High School, Liza concludes her academic career with an impressive 4.28 GPA and an equally impressive list of accomplishments.
She has led on the field as captain of the school lacrosse team, led the classroom as president of the debate team, contributed to the National Honor Society, mentored peers through the SABRE program, performed in the school band and remained an active Girl Scout throughout high school.

Meet our third recipient of the 2026 BWXT STEM Scholarship Program, Noelle Shelton!
Noelle is graduating this spring from Jefferson Forest High School, closing out her senior year with an incredible 4.42 GPA and a long list of achievements that reflect both drive and heart.
This fall, she’ll head to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville to major in biology, with plans to continue her education on the path toward becoming a physician assistant.
Noelle has made the most of her high‑school experience, balancing challenging coursework with leadership roles and meaningful extracurriculars. She has served as senior class vice president and class reporter, captained her cross‑country team, and expanded her academic experience at the Central Virginia Governor’s School.
Last summer, Noelle also spent time shadowing doctors at a local pediatric office, gaining early hands‑on exposure to the world of pediatric care.

We’re excited to share our second recipient of the 2026 BWXT STEM Scholarship Program, Madison Weatherford! 🎉 🏫
Madison is graduating this month from the Virginia Virtual Academy (VAVA), where she’s built an impressive record of leadership, service and involvement.
This fall, she’ll be heading to William & Mary to study neuroscience. Madison hopes to one day contribute to advancements in Alzheimer’s and dementia research.
From serving as a Teacher Assistant, to captaining her National Archery in the Schools Program team (NASP), to volunteering at the Helping Neighbors Food Pantry, Madison has truly made the most of her high‑school years. She is also a proud member of the National Honor Society!

As a Rodman Scholar, he ranks among the top 5% of engineering students entering the University of Virginia this fall — a distinction earned through curiosity, dedication, and a clear passion for STEM.

Yesterday, we joined @KINECTRICS alongside Minister @Sflecce , Minister @LisaThompsonPC and other distinguished speakers at Kinectrics’ Etobicoke facility as Ontario directed IESO to finalize a $300 million cost‑sharing agreement to advance critical pre‑development activities for Bruce C through 2030.
This next phase supports:
⚡Up to 4,800 MW of new nuclear capacity, enough to power 4.8 million homes.
🏗️ Creation of approximately 18,900 construction jobs and an additional 6,700 once operational.
🏘️ Indigenous and community engagement, workforce planning, and site preparation.
By collaborating with Kinectrics and @Bruce_Power, BWXT is leveraging our nuclear lifecycle expertise to help build solutions that strengthen energy security, economic growth, and clean-power leadership.
