Former PM @NaftaliBennett has added @MatiGill to the party’s list of candidates for the 26th Knesset. Mati, who made Aliyah from Columbus, Ohio at age 12, has served as head of the party’s hi-tech branch and has been among those spearheading the party’s policy plans in the field.

ההבוקר קיבלתי הודעה שוברת לב מהלום קרב, חבר בארגון שאני מלווה ונמצאת עמו בקשר כבר תקופה ארוכה: "לפני שעות ספורות, חייל ששב לביתו לאחר לחימה שם קץ לחייו. הוא לא קיבל את הטיפול הראוי כאן, והיום המלחמה ניצחה אותו."
כמה דקות לאחר מכן הגיעה ממנו הודעה נוספת, קצרה, שמבחינתי אומרת הכול: "דבי, מה עושים?"
מדובר בחייל שבחר להגיע מארצות הברית ולשרת את מדינת ישראל, אף שלא הייתה מוטלת עליו החובה לעשות זאת. הוא בא להילחם למעננו, ושילם מחיר כבד מנשוא וכעת גם משפחתו נאלצת להתמודד עם האובדן ועם המאבק להביאו לקבורה בישראל.
כמובן שהצעתי מיד את עזרתי. אבל אני מתקוממת מעצם העובדה שמשפחה שאיבדה את היקר לה מכול צריכה עכשיו גם להיאבק כדי להביא אותו הביתה.
מי שבחר להתייצב למען מדינת ישראל, ללבוש את מדי צה"ל ולהגן עלינו בשעתנו הקשה ביותר מדינת ישראל חייבת לעמוד לצדו ולצד משפחתו בשעתם הקשה ביותר.
אני קוראת למשרד הביטחון, לצה"ל ולכל הגורמים הרלוונטיים לעשות את המינימום המתבקש. להסיר את המכשולים, לסייע למשפחה ולאפשר להביאו למנוחת עולמים בהר הרצל, במדינה שלמענה בחר לשרת.
הוא בא מארצות הברית כדי לשרת את מדינת ישראל.
עכשיו מדינת ישראל צריכה להחזיר אותו הביתה.
