@KATUNews City paid the former owner how much for the building? $1 is the number that I read. If they weren't willing to keep it up they shouldn't have bought it. Sell it to the new owner for $2 and double your money.
@DouglasTS The G6 is to the B1G/SEC as you are to Phill Knight, whom without Oregon is nothing. Phill Knight was charitable so athletics could succeed at Oregon. Oregon, via the transfer portal, benefits greatly from G6 player development. Being charitable and gracious isn't a bad thing.
So the MWC had to settle, the downside risk was just to big to ignore. That's why the amount will be less than the exit fees alone. They screwed up. Now the MWC leaders will try to smokescreen it to keep their jobs. They will try to obscure what the poaching penalties were.
The PAC12 v. MWC antitrust lawsuit. The PAC12's case was strong and it likely was made as it was dying.
Imagine you are the MWC. USC and UCLA left, that was interesting. Then the rumors of UofO and UW leaving for the B1G started. At this point you started planning (cont.)
What could they have accomplished if they knew they had another 55 million to spend? Would the media deal have been worth another 20 million over the contract. Antitrust means 60 million in damages. Their was a big risk the exit fees would go to the PAC12. (Cont)
@go_dawgs89@TroutTyler@wilnerhotline The MWC conference counter claims were weak. Initially we won't know where the money came from as the MWC leaders need a little smoke to hide in. The antitrust case was built while the PAC12 was imploding. The poaching clause was stupid as it was action and not words.
@TBM_JY@AztecNation23 2/2 . We knew the primary places to look thanks to a tip. As soon as we found what we were looking for it was settled. The defendants copy carries far more weight in court.
@TBM_JY@AztecNation23 You do realize that once discovery begins you aren't necessarily waiting for the other side to get you info. You can go get it. My last big lawsuit we hired a second set of attorneys in the defendants state and sent them to the premises to go through files, etc. 1/2
@TheMontyShow You've obviously never had a legal dispute. Many are settled the day before. The week before there is some deep discussions. How strong is our case, what is the potential for skeletons being discovered that would be devastating for either side. Then you do the math.
