@hbtCHIEFS It’s actually pretty simple. A normal kickoff out of bounds from the 35 puts the ball at the 40. But if a penalty moved the kickoff to the 50, that same enforcement put the ball at the 25. So teams had a built-in incentive to kick it out of bounds on purpose. That’s the loophole.
Given the full context of this throw (playoff game, they 100% lose if this isn’t converted, they ended up winning, etc.), this has to be one of the very best plays in recent NFL history.
