Promotion part 2: if you intend to assert your right to remain silent, you must actually state that outloud. This is counterintuitive. But simply remaining silent when under police questioning is not sufficient to trigger this right.

Promotion: If you are ever arrested and want a lawyer, you have to CLEARLY AND UNAMBIGUOUSLY assert that you want a lawyer. Statements like “hm I might need a lawyer” or “I think I should get a lawyer” are not enough to trigger your 5th amendment rights.

Illness is so difficult to deal with; a thread: couple years ago my gran succumbed to cancer over a roughly 10 month period. The effects of that as a really close family member were really and a whirlwind. #MyThoughts
