Nigerian court dismisses Peter Obi's presidential election challenge for lacking evidence & merit.

🟢Bola Tinubu was elected president with 36.61% of the vote after elections on February 25 & later sworn into office on 29 May.
🟢Opposition leaders Atiku Abubakar (29.88%) and Peter Obi (26.10%) petitioned the court to invalidate the election, alleging irregularities.
🟢After a 6-hour verdict earlier today, Nigeria's Appeal Court rejected all of Peter Obi's arguments for lacking merit
🟢Lead justice Haruna Tsammani, who read the verdict, said "the petitioners failed to prove allegations of corrupt practices and over-voting".
🟢He said that the petitioners failed to specify the polling units where they alleged that rigging took place.
🟢The court also said the petitioners failed to provide any credible evidence to prove their allegations of suppression of votes in their strongholds.
🟢A verdict on the challenge by Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party is expected shortly.
🟢No Nigerian presidential election results have been overturned before
🟢If Tinubu's win is confirmed, the challengers can appeal to Nigeria's Supreme Court.
