Karim Khan, Chefankläger des Internationalen Strafgerichtshofs ICC, hat unter anderem einen Haftbefehl gegen Israels Ministerpräsident Benjamin Netanjahu wegen Verbrechen im Gaza-Krieg beantragt. Danach hat eine frühere Mitarbeiterin ihm sexuelle Übergriffe vorgeworfen. Khan selbst bestreitet die Anschuldigungen. Der 56-Jährige erklärte, sie seien Teil einer Verschwörung gegen ihn - als Vergeltung dafür, dass er gegen Vertreter der israelischen Regierung ermittelt habe.
Jetzt wurde Khan am 24. Juli 2026 abgesetzt, nachdem die 124 Vertragsstaaten in New York in geheimer Abstimmung mehrheitlich für eine entsprechende Resolution stimmten. Die USA lobten die Absetzung von Khan. Es ist das erste Mal, dass ein Chefankläger des Internationalen Strafgerichtshofs seines Amtes enthoben wird.
