At our Permanent Mission to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva, I had a productive engagement with our Team, listening to their insights and discussing our priorities in multilateral diplomacy. I commended them for their professionalism, dedication, and tireless efforts in advancing Kenya’s foreign policy objectives and championing our national interests on the global stage. Their work continues to strengthen Kenya’s voice and influence in international affairs. @ForeignOfficeKE
In an era defined by geopolitical shifts, technological disruption and growing global uncertainty, meaningful dialogue is essential to shaping a more stable and prosperous future.
I joined H.E. President @WilliamsRuto and H.E. @alexstubb, President of the Republic of Finland, at the Kultaranta Talks, where global leaders, policymakers and experts exchanged perspectives on the changing international landscape and its implications for peace, security and development.
I reaffirmed Kenya’s belief in the power of multilateralism, constructive engagement and international cooperation in addressing the challenges facing our interconnected world. I also emphasized the need for global institutions and financial systems to evolve in ways that are more inclusive, responsive and reflective of present-day realities.
Africa is not merely adapting to global change; it is helping shape it. The continent’s leadership, innovation and aspirations remain critical to building a more balanced, resilient and prosperous international order.
Today, I had the honour of taking my oath of office before @UN Secretary-General @antonioguterres as Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna and Executive Director of @UNODC.
In taking this oath, I am reminded that international civil service is, above all, a commitment to people. As I solemnly declared my dedication to carry out these functions with integrity, impartiality, and the utmost regard for the purposes and principles of the United Nations, I reflected on the responsibility that comes with this trust.
I step into this role with humility, gratitude and a profound sense of duty, and look forward to working with colleagues and partners across the UN system, and the world to advance peace, security, justice and the rule of law, for a more prosperous and dignified future for all.
The United Nations is undertaking one of its largest infrastructure investments in Africa, with Sh44 billion earmarked for the expansion of its Nairobi headquarters in Gigiri, marking a major upgrade of its global presence outside traditional UN hubs.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres is expected in Kenya next week, where he will join President William Ruto on Monday, May 11, at the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) for the groundbreaking of a new conference facility and the inauguration of modern office buildings.

Dr @SingoeiAKorir has done an excellent job in the foreign office in the past four years and Kenya's Foreign policy has gone few notches higher. Of course H.E @WILLIAMSRUTO in his sole discretion has appointed few useless characters as ambassadors and overlooked seasoned officers. But the PS and his boss Hon @MusaliaMudavadi have been excellent. Cheap coordinated political skulduggery shouldn't stop these officers for delivering for the people of Kenya.
Moscow and Nairobi may be thousands of kilometres apart, but diplomacy continues to bridge that distance and strengthen our shared understanding.
Speaking during a public lecture at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), I appreciated the opportunity to engage one of Russia’s leading academic institutions and a respected centre of global policy thought.
I commended Professor Anatoly Torkunov, Rector of the inistitue, the faculty and the wider university community for sustaining high academic standards and shaping generations of diplomats in Russia and beyond.
I also acknowledged the Institute’s continued support to African students through scholarships and fellowships, including many Kenyans who are part of a growing community pursuing studies across Russian universities.
Building a coalition that stands the test of time is never simple, but it is necessary if we are to secure Kenya’s future. H.E. President @WilliamsRuto is steadily building a national coalition grounded in purpose, clear direction, and a people-first agenda, a broad-based partnership designed to unlock opportunity and deliver lasting progress for every Kenyan. At a time when others are choosing noise and confusion, we are choosing structure, focus, and results.
Speaking during the United Democratic Alliance (@UDAKenya) Aspirants’ Meeting at State House, Nairobi, I called on our aspirants to rally behind the President and strengthen the party from the grassroots upward. A strong, united party will give the President the mandate needed to continue delivering transformative programmes and sustain the momentum of national development.
I noted that Kenya remains the anchor state of the African continent, a nation whose stability, reforms, and leadership influence the wider region. For this reason, we must secure a strong mandate that allows the President to continue steering Kenya forward, strengthening economic reforms, advancing climate resilience, and safeguarding peace and security across the region.
To all UDA aspirants, I urge you to demonstrate political maturity, campaign peacefully, and remain ambassadors of unity throughout the election period. Kenya is bigger than any individual interest, and together, we must protect the peace and stability that define who we are as a nation.
Kenya and the United States have entered a new chapter in our long-standing partnership by signing a strategic Health Cooperation Framework, through which the US Government will invest KES 208 billion, equivalent to USD 1.6 billion, over the next five years. This marks the first agreement of its kind between the @realDonaldTrump Administration and an African nation, underscoring Kenya’s growing leadership in shaping modern, self-reliant health systems on the continent.
This new framework places Kenya at the centre of decision-making, promoting government-led, sustainable and accountable national health structures aligned with Vision 2030, Universal Health Coverage and the Bottom-Up Transformation Agenda. It replaces previous donor-driven models and elevates a collaborative, Government-to-Government approach focused on long-term resilience.
Together with US Secretary of State @SecRubio, I signed the Funding Mechanism that aligns with the America First Global Health Strategy released in September 2025, which prioritises efficiency, reduced dependency and strengthened bilateral agreements that safeguard the shared interests of both nations. Through this Cooperation Framework, the United States will channel support directly into Kenyan systems such as the Social Health Authority, the Digital Health Authority and KEMSA, reinforcing transparency, sustainability and national ownership.
The Framework also paves the way for the absorption of 515 laboratory professionals and 13,293 healthcare workers into the Kenyan public service by 2028. It includes a jointly developed Co-Financing Plan covering laboratory systems, surveillance, workforce strengthening and essential health commodities. In addition, Kenya will progressively assume responsibility for procurement and distribution of key commodities through KEMSA by December 2026.
The United States’ contributions are tied to Kenya’s ongoing commitment to increase both National and County health budgets annually, with allocations of KES 10 billion in FY 2026/27, KES 20 billion in FY 2027/28, KES 35 billion in FY 2028/29 and KES 50 billion in FY 2029/30. By 2031, Kenya will fully take over the health commodities and human resource support currently funded by the US, totaling KES 18 billion, or USD 141 million.
Through this landmark agreement, Kenya strengthens its National Health Sovereignty, deepens alignment with national priorities including BETA, UHC and Vision 2030, and enhances workforce capacity, supply chain integrity and national laboratory systems. It is a decisive step toward a future where Kenya owns, drives and sustains a world-class health ecosystem for its people.
Kenya is committed to putting every key economic driver firmly in place so that our nation can achieve faster, broader and more inclusive development. Joined President @WilliamsRuto for a high-level meeting with Mr. Makhtar Diop, Managing Director of the International Finance Corporation, the world’s largest development institution dedicated to supporting the private sector in emerging economies. Our discussion focused on how the IFC can partner with Kenya across four transformative sectors.
Top among them is the dualling of 2,000 kilometres of roads to boost production, open new economic corridors and accelerate the movement of goods and services across the country. We also discussed the construction of a modern terminal and additional runways at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, a strategic investment that will strengthen Kenya’s position as Africa’s premier aviation and connectivity hub.
Further, we outlined plans to expand Kenya’s energy generation capacity from 3,000 to 10,000 megawatts within seven years, ensuring affordable, reliable and clean power for homes, industries and innovation. The agenda also includes the development of 50 megadams that will stabilise food security through large-scale irrigation, increase export production, and supply sufficient water to fuel the growth of our manufacturing sector.
President Ruto assured the IFC that Kenya has already undertaken key legislative and policy reforms, including updates to the Public Private Partnership framework and the introduction of Water Purchasing Agreements, to attract private capital for large water and infrastructure projects. These reforms are designed to unlock new investments, enhance water security and deliver sustainable development for all Kenyans.
Malava deserves peace, progress, and steady leadership, and I believe David Ndakwa reflects these values with clarity and purpose. He is well placed to carry the aspirations of the people and to steer the constituency toward a stronger future.
I urged the community to remain united and to stand behind leaders who truly put Malava first. I emphasized that real development takes root where people choose stability over division, collaboration over conflict, and responsible politics over unnecessary tension.
I also reassured the residents of Malava that the upcoming by-election will be conducted with the highest standards of fairness and transparency. Robust security arrangements are already in place, ensuring that no one has reason to fear. I encouraged everyone to maintain political discipline, respect one another, and safeguard the peace that is essential for a productive electoral process. The safety and well-being of every voter on polling day are fully secured.
Together with National Assembly Speaker @HonWetangula, Cooperatives CS @DrOparanya, fellow leaders, and the great people of Malava, we rallied behind our UDA candidate, David Ndakwa. His moment to serve has arrived, and our collective support will help drive Malava toward the future it rightfully deserves.
