Another government circular leaked? Perhaps this time for good.

Recall the certificate racketeering scandal that made the news last year, which led to the commendable decision by the Fed Min of Education @NigEducation to suspend many schools, including suspending the accreditation and evaluation of degree certificates from Republic of Benin and Togo?

The leaked document is the list the Government of Benin Republic sent to Nigerian Foreign Affairs for actions. The list is a fresh list of newly accredited Universities (34 private, 4 public) that have been approved to award undergraduate and postgraduate degrees henceforth.

The problem of leaks aside, there are valid points to be taken from the issues raised in that @legitngnews post. Particularly the ones raised by NANS.

The Federal Ministry of Education, @NigEducation headed by Professor Tahir Mamman, SAN @prof_oon and the DSS should as a matter of urgency conclude Nigeria’s end of the investigations so that the innocent Nigerian students that has been stalled will continue with their lives.

Most of these students are waiting for the reinstatement of their school accreditations by the Nigerian Government in order to go for the mandatory NYSC. That’s a depressing phase to find yourself hanging because you’d have no clear line of direction.

We can’t hang the lives and careers of thousands of Nigerian students in the balance because of the actions of some bad eggs. Not even when the other part have done what’s requested and required of them.
