We came in this game too confident. We didn't respect basic principles vs a possession based team, and we paid the price.

A hard loss to take in, but we didn't show up in any aspect of the game. We will take this result and go work on the team.

▪︎ Sundowns came with a game plan. They respected it and were efficient on the ball.
▪︎ We didn't build from the performance we put against them 2 weeks ago. We were scattered around and couldn't regroup every time we lost the ball.
▪︎ We allowed Allende time on the ball. We allowed Ribeiro time and space, we just didn't have the well timed reactions needed to close any passing lane.
▪︎ It became worse when we didn't manage the spaces in wide defensive areas. Our fullbacks were forever chasing.

We played like we didn't know their strength when given space.

A poor game plan from the bench. Poor application on the field of play. We got a red card when we were already lacking desire and character on and off the ball.

Blaming individual players means blaming every player we had on the pitch. There is no player who didn't make poor decisions on and off the ball.
▪︎ The subs looked like they could do something better, but the red card knocked us mentally.
▪︎ But it's difficult for them to make any reasonable difference if we are just disorganized in all departments.

The supporters had every reason to be confident and hopeful, the coach needed to also understand the weaknesses and strengths of both teams, especially in such a big game.
▪︎ We started the game like we wanted to go pound for pound with Sundowns when the coach already spoke about how we are on 20% strength now.
▪︎ Why not stay compact and pick your moments well because you know your strengths... it's a cup game, you play to win more than anything.

We paid the price harshly, but we will bounce back!
