Ο Θάνος Πλεύρης είναι ένας μεγάλος ψεύτης. Ισχυρίστηκε πως γνώρισε τον Ηλία Θεοδωρόπουλο, ως γιατρό παθολόγο - αιματολόγο (που δεν είναι αιματολόγος...) το 2016, μετα την περιπέτεια της υγείας του που του πρότεινε κάποιες αλλαγές στην διατροφή του, για να ανεβάσει τους δείκτες του αίματος.

Είπε μάλιστα πως δεν του τον σύστησαν πολιτικά πρόσωπα αλλά κάποιοι γνωστοί του.

Ισχυρίστηκε επίσης πως δεν γνώριζε την γυναίκα του γιατρού, την Ιωάννα Γάκα.

Ψεύδεται όμως ασύστολα. Σε όλα.
Γνώριζε και τους δύο, πολύ πιο πριν.
Η γνωριμία τους χρονολογείται τουλάχιστον 4 χρόνια νωρίτερα όταν ο ίδιος και το ζευγάρι των γιατρών υπήρξαν ιδρυτικά μέλη του σωματείου “Ελληνικό Ιατρονομικό Συμβούλιο”.

Στην πορεία, ο Πλεύρης και οι δύο κατηγορούμενοι για τον θάνατο του Μαζωνάκη γιατροί, ήταν τα τρία από τα πέντε μέλη της προσωρινής διοίκησης που ζήτησαν από το Μονομελές Πρωτοδικείο Αθηνών την επικύρωση του από 3-6-2012 καταστατικού του σωματείου.
