In 1975, Skido Paul Buba was Nigeria's very first national 100-mile cycle champion, less than a year after he rode a bicycle for the first time.
He was born in Garkida, North Central State, the third child of Bukar Yaro Zoaka, a cook, and Habiba Buba, a trader.
"Paul's long term ambition is to be cycling champion of the world. His immediate ambition is to beat every other cyclist in Africa. He may in future train to be the first Nigerian cycling coach after a glorious career as a professional in a sport that is comparatively new in Nigeria."
