My husband was recently in VCH facility.Honestly I had to ask who was in charge several times….no one was apparently. Patients who were to be fed - had trays dumped, while out of the room. Removed with no accountability, Everyone screaming/yelling at each other. Absolute chaos.

Honestly I’ve hit my breaking point. On call this week and just crushed. It’s insanity to do a specialist consult on a complex patient in 20 minutes. If I take longer then urgent care is delayed and the pile gets bigger.

Now Sechelt hospital has no physician capacity and patients are being sent over to me in the night. For the first time in 22 years of medical practice I said no. It felt terrible because the patient gets caught in the middle.

It’s unsafe. It’s hurting me. It’s hurting my family. It’s hurting patients. Leadership at the highest level in the VCH health authority need to lead. I have dedicated 22 years to Lions gate hospital. I’m seriously contemplating resigning.

Whoever forms the next government needs to make people in highly paid positions in administration accountable. Done with mediocrity. Politicians can’t fix the system but they can demand accountability from those they hire in to these roles.

Gordon was a great premier. Called a spade a spade /and was a terrific Mayor for Vancouver. Ie stopped the towers in the ctre of the West End so neighbourhoods could be created. As Premier he ran a tight ship during difficult financial times. He was imaginative & yet no nonsense!
