In the mid-50s Riverview had nearly 5,000 patients, reduced to about 1,300 when I worked there in the late 80s

IMO the failure to implement a Provincial community-based system addressing addiction & mental health is part of what’s contributed to the current crisis of street homelessness, public disorder, and mortality

In good settings involuntary care will be the beginning of long term positive change, and in bad settings it’s part of a costly revolving door
