Hayes is an interesting one for sure. The evidence is pretty weak that he and Tilden had anything to do themselves with the corrupt process that put him in office. And when he got there, he absolutely attacked the status quo and did things like select people based on merit :) He eliminated a lot of the day's current corruption and buying of favor. The methodology used is an integrity-focused methodology from Siena. Certainly not perfect!

I asked ChatGPT to rank the presidents based on graft and corruption, and to identify and use a standard methodology of available. Led to some interesting stories about Chester Arthur and Jimmy Carter. @StallionCornell you have inspired not just a trend, but I think a lot of education too!
