Turbocharge your CAD software!
We had a great chat with @VoxelMatters earlier this month about our 3D scan to CAD tools, and how they can both accelerate the design process for power users and bring more new users into CAD for the first time. (1/2)
@Flounderpork@SOLIDWORKS You can get some fantastic starter 3D scanners in the $1k-3k range for small parts, and for those with larger budgets and higher requirements there's really high precision/high quality scanners that go into the $100k range
Today we announced our newest 3D AI foundation model, which takes 3D scan data and automatically converts it to editable parametric CAD geometry. We've built tools on top of this, including an @SOLIDWORKS plugin that will reconstruct the 3D scan with a native feature tree...
@Flounderpork@SOLIDWORKS There's a lot of great options on the market right now, and it really depends on how much accuracy you need, as well as the relative size of the parts you're scanning (eg. are you scanning palm-sized machined parts or room-sized equipment and assemblies)
@cullenofbrien@autodesk Our high level goal is to work with your CAD tool of choice, in your CAD tool of choice. We're launching with our SOLIDWORKS plugin right now but will be working to integrate across more CAD packages throughout this year. We'll post on here when we have more to share!
Our goal is to make it much faster for people to create manufacturable 3D models, but also bring more people into existing CAD tools that have never previously had the chance to learn how to design in CAD. As the AI model translates a 3D scan to a CAD model, it builds a...
@MrFutureMaker@iamarkdev@hytopia Are you ok with GLB? We decided on GLB (binary) vs GLTF (text file) export because of the file size efficiency. There's online converters between the two that probably would work for you.
A few months ago, @Markforged cofounders Gregory Mark and David Benhaim announced the launch of their new startup, @BackflipAI, an #artificialintelligence design tool that generates #3D models. We interviewed Gregory Mark. Dive into his insights here ๐

Whoopsโwe're building faster than we can post! Our team just fully released the waitlist and opened things back up for everyone, so waitlisted users can login and get started immediately and new users can now create an account and get started as well.
Happy creating!
