Our Industry has to be consulted and given sufficient warning to prepare for any changes in regulations relating to the pandemic @PresidencyZA and @Tourism_gov_za .
The measures have crippled many, closed too many and caused the loss of tens of thousands of jobs. #jobssavelives
Backpackers around the country can hardly keep their doors open due to beach bans, bodies of water being closed and very little consultation on the ban on alcohol and many other measures taken. @Tourism_gov_za and @PresidencyZA we need a better solution and proper engagement!
So many experiences in South Africa are lost forever due to a lack of engagement, lack early warning of closures and lack of proper consultation with sectors by the players in the Tourism, Events and Restaurant Industries. It is time for a strategy and proper planning.
We support the Restaurant, Events and Tourism Industries country wide in asking for answers. Why were we not consulted and then given less than 24 hour warning when changing business hours, occupancy and the ban on sale of alcohol? We now see daily closures in all sectors.
Last year we saw South Africans pleading for their jobs and for Restaurants to remain open with safety protocols. Now in 2021 we see culinary experiences, beverage providers and hospitality closures daily. We had NO WARNING, where is the planning and WHERE is the consultation?
Tourism and Travel has come to a near standstill with the COVID-19 Pandemic bringing many to their knees. Business interruption insurance for many was a potential lifesaver but we as an Industry have been let down by its Insurers.

The Amakhowe Mushroom is found on the #WildCoast of South Africa and is a delicacy for many. This huge mushroom is grown by termites in a symbiotic relationship and only one normally appears after heavy rains.
