@IGN EA fully deserves a boycott and I’m all in. They've watered down Battlefield’s into a semi-CoD clone, buried Pandemic and Visceral, and now they've just killed off my favorite sci-fi setting with BioWare. Fuck funding a corporate graveyard on casino sports packs. Done with them.
@JamieMoranUK Now he looks like a young man, probably leaning too close to the pretty boy style. I preferred the older look, but will admit his face structure before was a little weird. Hopefully theres decent beards and complexion options to make him look older.
@WeAreMassEffect Just from this trailer it looks like they went to Mass Effects roots, and were able to capture the feeling of it in a different timeline (unlike Andromeda). I'm sad this will never come to life, Mass Effect will always be my favorite sci-fi setting. R.I.P.
A purported BioWare developer has leaked a trailer for the cancelled ME 5 on Reddit.
The footage, reportedly titled "MASS EFFECT UNIVERSE," appears to suggest the project was further along in development.
Its authenticity remains unverified.
#MassEffect
The leaked Mass Effect Universe trailer has convinced me that BioWare actually did have a confident direction for this game and good reasons for it to exist. It has renewed my appreciation for the power of this IP and the incredible legacy that follows it.
- Mass Effect was the first major video game franchise to allow players to carry their exact save file, all of their previous choices included, into the next game.
- Mass Effect introduced iconic elements such as the dialogue wheel and mid-scene action prompts (Renegade/Paragon).
- Mass Effect invested true AAA production values into both male and female version of Commander Shepard, absolutely changing how female RPG protagonists were depicted and voiced. FemShep is still many people’s favorite version of the character.
- Mass Effect bridged old-school tabletop style RPGs and modern cinematic action role-playing, paving the way for games like Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher series, and others to even exist in the first place. (The Witcher 1 was even built on BioWare’s engine)
- Mass Effect revolutionized meaningful romance in video games, raising the bar of quality for writing and making it a must have feature for modern RPGs.
- Mass Effect proved that video games could handle long-form, multi-entry, franchise stories and characters in a way that rivals TV, books, and film.
This is an intellectual property that can’t be left to die, it still has so much left to give and so many more stories to tell in the hands of the right people.
Please someone #SaveMassEffect.
@dudefromwisco I play both. Console is simply more fair competitively: locked hardware/graphics eliminate PC config/potato cheese, upgrades are cheaper, and cheating is less rampant (even if the gap is closing). It's not an "intelligence gap", it's preferring parity. Play what makes you happy.
@Gustavof76@HiebDE@WARDOGS The minigun littlebird. If you're piloting around the first 20 tix doing taxi/logi, I recommend flying around the CZ to get an idea of enemy AA / fob emplacements b4 deciding to purchase either attack littlebird.
@Gustavof76@HiebDE@WARDOGS Only purchase if the enemy has high value targets, also don't attack fobs alone. Target tanks, Spawn Vehicles, minigun/rocket LBs, drills when HZ is on it, and fob emplacements that are being supplied. Once HV targets are dead you can target infantry from a safer distance than...
With all the chatter about exploits and frustrating behavior by logi drivers I wanted to put this to the test myself to see what the numbers actually were.
So I drove a logi truck an entire match. Well most of one. I got started at about 15 minutes late (Score was 15-14-9).
That said in about 65 minutes of driving Logi I made 25895 XP including win bonus. So figure like 19k without the win bonus.
I spent about 53k on the truck, my kit, a crate of hammers, and an extra fob. None of which I needed to do, so I could of easily made 130k vs 100k. And that was with the vast majority of my pallets not being unloaded cause they couldn't be.
Had I run through the entire match I probably could of done 30k XP easy, and another $30k or $40k in profit
That was with an unused FOB. In other words, the team built a fob, but stopped using it and spent the whole match chasing the circle. Not complaining or anything, just providing a relevant point.
This also means you can do 20k xp an hour pretty consistently I think. That means you can unlock the T72 in less than 5 hours of gameplay. The Gepard is about 10. Arty truck is about 17. And the L2A6 is about 26.
For comparison, I spent an ENTIRE match in a Gepard driving it. WE did pretty good. I got like 5 kills myself defending us from infantry, along with probably 40 assists from Jesse killing stuff. That didn't even pull 14k XP..... And I only made $72k
So, in back to the logi truck, I spent 65 minutes doing something that did nothing to help the team. I was playing solo truck sim for an hour. No one cared about me cause why should they? The fob wasn't mortaring people or calling drills so it's out of sight out of mind. People probably didn't even know we had one.
And it gave more XP and money than driving around in a GEPARD. Shit, it's more than I make in MOST of my matches running around with a rocket launcher and assault rifle getting 30 or 40 kills and shooting down a dozen helis.
This is the best example so far of a BROKEN incentive structure. This is why you'll sometimes have 5 or 6 people doing nothing but running logi to the determent of the rest of the team.
I'm perfectly fine with Logi paying well. It's a shitty job IMO (if you like it that's cool, I don't). And when it's being done to benefit the team it is VERY important. Even more so now in S2 because of how fast mortars and Talons can drain supplies.
But in order for it to pay well it should be a benefit to the team. Logi drivers shouldn't be able to make huge money just delivering dead end pallets that never get used. It incentives players to NOT play the game. In fact it incentives them to actively avoid it so they don't loose their streak...
In a match yesterday I watched a team of 4 or 5 logi drivers build a burner fob off on one side of a circle with no intent to use it for anything other than unloading their pallets into.
It eventually got destroyed cause someone showed up and popped it with an IED or c4 or something. No idea if it was coordinated, but it wouldn't surprise me.
Those same drivers dropped another fob in the same place 5 min later and filled it with all the pallets that wouldn't fit in the previous full FOB. They were all 200-300k in profit for the match cause we pulled out a win despite them not helping.
This is exploitive play and ruins the experience of other players. I'd rather have a completely lost newb trying to figure out how to use mortars than ass clowns like those drivers.
@Brammflakes@WARDOGS Didn't have a gaming PC when this came out, always wished it came to console. Would be awesome to have something like this come out again in the modern market.
@Allin_Playing@JoGnome_Kujo@NomzyyHD@UncSupply Stop entertaining him man, he's just trying to keep us annoyed for w/e reason. He doesn't have real numbers and is working off of emotion b/c he hates dying to helicopters. He doesn't even know how many kills it would take in a heli to reach 100k profit, or break even point S1/S2
The minigun heli in @WARDOGS is COOKED.
One bullet of .308 FMJ out of a rotary cannon now deals 19 damage to the CHEST of a tier 1 armoured player. I need 7-8 bullets to kill a single soldier regularly, which isn't easy to do, especially if you don't want to be forced on mouseyaw/rifleaim as a control scheme.
I literally LOSE 1v1s against infantry that just shoot back WHILE im on target now.
We deal the same amount of damage - he just doesn't have to fly, control and navigate an ENTIRE HELICOPTER, just raises his rifle.
This isn't a 25% damage nerf, it's more like 25% of the damage REMAINED after you took the rest away. (shoutout @SilkOCE for coming up with that analogy)
You also take twice as much damage from all sources (UNANNOUNCED SHADOW PATCH) - a group of 2-3 people that simply spray back can kill you just by hitting 1 mag each, this is with AK/starter weapon FMJ.
Heli costs twice as much to buy, a nerf targeting the already broken economy: my entire community consisting of pilot mains was telling me they never profited from helicopters already. I barely broke even in season 1.
CIWS has been BUFFED like crazy: It now looks almost directly up, removing the entire skill of being able to stay in the cone above it (while you are INCREDIBLY exposed to other threats btw, so this was never overpowered) and you also need twice as many bullets to kill the operator as outlined before.
So: maneuvering yourself for a kill shot is more dangerous, you take more damage in the leadup (and on the comedown), you have to hit more bullets, and the safety margin is smaller. You just lose.
Even the newly introduced metal sheet roofs are EVERYWHERE all of a sudden and almost fully exclude helicopters from helping on a FOB.
And it doesn't end there: It seems the entire helicopter can get fully killed by as little as 15 BULLETS from the new M2 browning, which is small and can hide everywhere.
Visibility has been decreased for literally no reason by applying a film of dirt to the windshield. I would literally pay 5k per life just to buy a rag that can wipe it away. This is especially horrible in the rain, where rain+dirt just completely take your clarity of vision away. You CANNOT SEE in the rain.
Overall, we are facing 5-6 changes that solely nerf the minigun helicopter, a helicopter that BARELY generated profit for the top 1% of pilots before this patch, and I suspect it's just because we can't figure out how to balance the havoc and the rocket heli - both of which just need to be vaulted until we have an actual vision for their place in the game.
But taking away the ability to be effective in any capacity in the minigun helicopters (you will see this play out in the coming weeks, trust me) is not the play - it's the only heli that requires skill and is fun to improve at.
And before you think I'm crying and blowing things out of proportion - I went 184-3 today in my first full game with the miniguns. I can just see issues before they play out, and I want this helicopter to be playable by others, not just the best 10 pilots.
Keep in mind: The new HARDCOUNTER to helicopters, the Gepard, IS NOT EVEN PART OF THIS EQUATION YET. And it will completely shut down air entirely once that's out there, especially miniguns.
I don't look forward to the next few weeks if this doesn't get a buff and might just ditch it entirely, which is sad. It's the funnest thing in the game for me.
@JoGnome_Kujo@NomzyyHD@UncSupply You're not accounting for ammo, flares, and armor for us as well. Plus infantry get second chances with revives. Helis do not.
