@simonmaechling Scientists have shown that they place their political tribe well above evidence. They will misrepresent science or stay silent while others do if it is a core tribal belief.
Covid and the whole gender thing (like "men can get pregnant") showed us this clearly.
@Sidewalk_Steve Most were in Portsmouth while holding a sign. Other is with family members. They believe that PB are basically harmless and have no sense of the deep harm.
So there’s this common misconception that autistic people take everything literally.
I’m autistic, so I can tell you… that’s just not true.
The people who actually take things literally are kleptomaniacs.
I just have autism.
@simonmaechling I remember a doctor rebutting that "honey is natural" (and so not an issue for weight loss).
His rebuttal was: "syphilis is natural, so what"
@SharylAttkisson This got two nights of coverage because she was in the primary against Obama. If she was the Democrat nominee running against a Republican, it would have been burried.
@wokeandwoofing The highest estimate for gender dysphoria before the current craze is one in 10,000.
With five children between them, the chances of two being trans is roughly one in ten million.
The hate of Indians is wrong and should be called out. There is far too much of it. Indians have helped with the success of our economy, they are good citizens by any metric you want (education, crime rates, etc.)
It is also the case that with AI putting pressure on IT jobs, it is insane to be letting in so many people under visa. It is not just in IT. What is the justification for an H1-B worker in trucking. It is a job that can be trained in weeks or months.
So call out the hate, but recognize there is a real problem.
Modern colleges teach conformity - 80-88% of "elite" college students self censor or fake progressive views.
The idea that men can get pregnant is a product of these bastions of critical thinking.
Graham Platner having his best fundraising day after the NYT reported that he hates and abuses women and was lying about his Nazi tattoo tells you everything you need to know about the modern Democratic party.
@GaryMarcus@Cmin914725641 80-88% of college students self censor or fake progressive views. Modern colleges teach conformity and from what I see are in direct opposition to critical thinking.
The belief that men can get pregnant or sex is assigned at birth comes from these critical thinkers.
@MrRelatable88 Israel is:
- The only democracy in the region
- The only place that gays and lesbians are safe in the region
- The only place that allows for all people who are not the dominant religion to be full citizens
- A long-term ally that provides crucial intelligence in the region
Both scientists and doctors abused their titles because of people's trust in them (which has rightfully eroded greatly). Many of the doctors have limited training on who to analyze studies.
Almost all of both groups either joined in or stayed silent.
The same happens now with gender medicine. The data is clear that this is life-long harm without proven benefit, but it is propped up by doctors and scientists.
There are many people who are factually immune on both the left and the right. That does not mean that serious people should be able to back up their positions with facts and open to confounding facts and studies.
We have scientists who will say that sex is "assigned at birth". We have more who will stay silent and not confront those who do.
@David_B_Ro@RblSports@simonmaechling Depending on the field, there is a serious replication crisis in many branches of research.
The problem is often with scientists who use that title to make political claims that are a-scientific or they are unwilling to call out other scientists on their team making such claims.
How about not saying the covid vaccine was sterilizing. How about providing evidence that forcing masks on children would slow the spread. Instead they passed anecdotes about two hairdressers off as science.
How about not signing letters that say that mass protests were ok if for the right cause while telling others that they could not hold outdoor church services.
How about all those who support or stay silent while children are being sterilized, mutilated, and being burdened with life long harm for the cult of "gender medicine."
@naturalguy@simonmaechling Strange to be opposed to providing evidence. That type of thinking is a good example of why people don't trust "The Science" and its supporters.
@AllAboutCyc1ing@simonmaechling Silencing and banning people for posting content that was often scientifically true is far worse than any criticism of the payment structure
