I have been tying Gele on my daughter's head every other day so that she gets used to it before her photoshoot, in less than 2 mins she always yanks it off ๐ญ
This is stressing me out because I want the Gele photo so bad. Who has tips?
If your partner keeps bursting into tears at different times but consistently, what will you do? Will you get upset or try to understand what's happening & possibly help? Now imagine they are not crying but getting angry instead, your easygoing partner suddenly has a short fuse.
Your suddenly angry partner might be drowning and the only way they can get your attention is to lash out, not necessarily at you. So if you notice a personality change in your spouse, you must pay attention because that is what love is.
Sit down and have a conversation.
How you speak about your spouse to others really matters. Your words shape how they will be perceived. Often, the picture you paint in a single conversation becomes the lens through which others view your partner as a whole.
Now, if you are in a toxic or abusive relationship, or you are speaking to a therapist or trusted confidant, it is important to be honest and speak freely. Those are safe spaces necessary to share the full picture, but outside those spaces, speak strength and speak kindly.
The way you talk about your spouse, good or bad becomes the lens others use to view them. You canโt consistently highlight only your partnerโs flaws and then expect others to treat them with respect or kindness. No one is all good or all bad, but you can choose what to highlight.
Communicate in a way that helps your partner truly hear you and not trigger them to react. The more you practise open communication, the better you both become at it so practise!
Watching The Four Seasons on Netflix reminded me why I always arm the couples I counsel with communication skills. The moment you start getting upset silently in your head, you start creating distance in your relationship & one thing that is very certain is that you'd get upset.
Talk about everything, including the things that seem small or silly at the moment. Your partner canโt improve or support you if they donโt know how you are feeling or whatโs bothering you.
Of course, how you express yourself matters too.
