Obama: "Values every president here today, as different as we are, has tried our best to uphold. Values that John McCain and Mitt Romney believed in no less than I did."
@jaypo1961 History will remember it for what it is - cracks in moral sensibility opened the possibility of someone as corrupt and ill-fit as Trump & when faced w/the responsibility to fight it - the fight of our time - far too many of all ideologies failed miserably to meet the moment.
This is so insanely corrupt, I can’t even believe it.
More than half the donors to Trump’s $400 million White House ballroom just won over $50 billion in new federal contracts in six months.
And here’s the part that should make your blood boil.
Sixteen of these 27 donors were facing federal enforcement actions, antitrust reviews, labor cases, securities charges. Many of those cases have been quietly dropped or scaled back since Trump took office. You write a check, your legal problems disappear. That’s not a coincidence.
The White House won’t even release the full donor list. They’re hiding it on purpose, because daylight is the one thing pay-to-play can’t survive. A federal judge already ruled ballroom construction has to stop until Congress authorizes it.
Government is supposed to serve the people, not auction itself off to the highest bidder. When access goes to whoever pays the most, working families always end up paying the price.
We either end the corruption, or the corruption will end us.

“The story of this era isn’t merely that powerful men demand obedience. History is full of powerful men demanding obedience. The story of this era is whether enough Americans still possess the courage to refuse. Scott Pelley did.”

Not everyone can afford to do what Scott Pelley did - but history will not look kind upon those who could but chose not to put up a fight to protect the institutions that matter.
This entire era will be one in which a lack of ethics and morals cost our country dearly. The only question is how long the era lasts and whether or not the costs are too great to recover from.
While history certainly won’t be kind to those who allowed their party to get taken over by a game show host conman there will be plenty of blame for the Dems for being stupid enough to not immediately disavow themselves from situations like whats developing in Maine Senate race.
This week alone:
DOJ opens an investigation into the woman Trump raped.
The White House is caught steering a $620 million contract to Don Jr.’s firm.
The Pentagon hands out a $10 billion contract after Trump buys stock in the company.
Foreign governments are caught funneling hundreds of millions into a random JPMorgan account tied to Trump’s “Board of Peace” with no oversight.
It’s just Thursday.
The corruption isn’t hidden anymore. It’s happening out in the open.
Donald Trump Jr takes a financial stake in a company…
3 months later, the Pentagon gives it $620 million…
after Trump’s White House told them to…
And the company’s valuation rose from
$200 million to $2 billion as a result.
This is corruption.

Not sure claiming the guy who talks about Jesus telling us to love God and Love neighbor isn’t a Christian is the right play when your guy is Ken Paxton.
There is no interpretation of the Bible that can support the Gospel of James Talarico
God isn’t gender nonbinary
Climate alarmism isn’t a biblical mandate
It’s time for Republicans to unite behind Ken Paxton, who won tonight’s runoff in Texas
Share if you agree
Ken Paxton is the most corrupt politician in America.
He embodies the broken system we’re running against.
It’s time to come together: The People vs. Ken Paxton
Fans see the big wins & think those moments are what keep ya going, this dream of mine would’ve ended a long time ago if that were true - nah it’s nights like tonight in Peoria that make this thing worth doing. The bonds formed will always be bigger than the game if I get a say.
It’s gonna take at least a generation to completely grasp all the ways in which our system of government and society failed - if we’re able to fix it in that time I’m going to be shocked.
It took years to reform the DOJ and restore public confidence after Nixon and Watergate. It may take a generation after @realDonaldTrump.

Fun fact for the $10 billion lawsuit crowd.
The IRS leak that exposed Donald Trump’s tax returns happened between August 2019 and November 2020.
405,427 other taxpayer returns were also leaked.
Trump was president. His own pick, Charles Rettig, ran the IRS. The contractor who did it, Charles Littlejohn, worked on a Trump-era IRS contract and is now serving five years in federal prison.
On January 29, 2026, Trump sued the IRS and Treasury for $10 billion over a breach that happened on his watch, under his commissioner, by a contractor his administration paid.
He is suing the federal government he ran, for failing to stop a leak that occurred while he was running it.
The taxpayer foots the bill either way.
The republican party died between 2016 & 2018 - the 2020 platform should’ve been enough to know that - but with defeats this week of radical conservatives who dare take a stand against Trump in primaries should prove it. Be wary of anyone who calls themselves a Republican.
Jacob Misiorowski of the @Brewers is the only MLB pitcher in the modern era to have a 4-start span with 30+ strikeouts, 0 runs allowed & 0 XBH allowed.
