The nation stands with Captain Smit Machchhar and takes immense pride in his extraordinary courage.
Putting his own life on the line, he upheld the highest traditions of duty and service, helping protect the lives of everyone on board.
His courage, composure and sense of duty will remain an enduring source of inspiration for the nation. Wishing him a speedy and complete recovery.
WOW 🚨This is the pilot who was stabbed on the hijacked plane Captain Smit Machchar.
On a podcast last year, He talked about the significance of having a doctor on board a plane to save a pilot's life in case of an emergency.
Today, he was stabbed and was able to open the cockpit doors and alert the crew there was a hijacking.
This man is a hero.
Had this man not found the courage to fight back after being repeatedly attacked with an axe capable of cutting through metal—while bleeding profusely—and had the presence mind to trigger the hijack/emergency code, initiate the emergency response and open the cockpit door to allow passengers to assist him, the aircraft’s subsequent dive could have had catastrophic consequences.
Had that aircraft not been recovered, the geopolitical consequences for the Middle East could have been profound and potentially irreversible.
Sometimes history turns on the courage, resilience and presence of mind of one person.
Yes. One Indian man.
The nation is proud of Captain Smit Machchhar. His heroic courage and incredible presence of mind have deeply touched us all.
Even after being seriously injured in a moment of grave peril, he remained determined to protect the lives of others. His bravery and quick response helped prevent a major tragedy and saved many precious lives.
I salute his indomitable spirit. I pray for his speedy recovery and good health.
Dear people of India,
Regardless of your faith or beliefs, you are my brothers and sisters in humanity, and I have love and respect for each and every one of you.
What a great nation you are.
I had the honor of becoming friends with your former ambassador to the UAE, Sunjay Sudhir, and today I was deeply moved to learn that the captain of the Flydubai flight at the center of this terrifying incident was Indian.
His courage, alongside the bravery of those who intervened aboard that aircraft, helped prevent what could have been a terrible tragedy.
India is indeed a great nation, and I look forward to visiting your beautiful country soon, Inshallah.
God bless India and its people. 🇮🇳🙏🏼♥️
I am sure of one thing.
If the plane had crashed, BBC & NYT would have blamed the Indian pilot.
And sadly, a large number of Indian liberals too.
In fact, this is almost a Tukaram Omble moment.
Had Tukaram Omble not captured Kasab, ecosystem would have blamed 26/11 on RSS.

MEET CAPTAIN SMIT MACHCHHAR
THE INDIAN PILOT WHO SAVED ANOTHER 9/11
An Indian captain flying hundreds of passengers from Dubai to Tel Aviv was attacked and stabbed inside the cockpit by his Omani co-pilot, who attempted to crash the plane carrying Israeli passengers.
Captain Smit Machchhar fought back, helped prevent a catastrophe and brought the aircraft safely to the ground.
The sad part? Much of the global media coverage appears to have overlooked the fact that the hero pilot was Indian - because, stories of Indian courage and heroism don’t generate the same attention as narratives of hate and racism against Indians.
