#India’s claim that the #IndusWatersTreaty is held in abeyance is at the outset nothing but verbal gimmickry. It is legally baseless, and an outright violation of international law, besides being totally untenable. More importantly it is an attack on international governance and an assault on the norms of international cooperation. India’s attempt to weaponize a lifegiving and lifesaving resource - #water -that has nourished the people of the #Indusbasin since time immemorial and a life line of millions, amounts to nothing less than a crime against humanity. Every citizen of this beautiful country that sits on the oldest #civilization born out of the mighty Indus, will stand resolute in defence of our inherent, inalienable and indeed natural right to these waters, and we will resist not only any effort to turn a shared lifeline into an instrument of coercion but will also stand guard to international rules based systems that honour international laws. #IndusWatersTreaty #WaterisaHumanRight
