Seeing this after reading a book on the Sui Generis legal proceeding of "garnishee proceedings" makes me feel like I found a missing piece of the book.

If possible, parties should only go through the rigours a debt recovery litigation when a round table negotiation has failed.

The Olodo Uprising is not limited to social media celebrities and influencers.

I will bring it to the legalsphere (tag me a bully for saying this, by now you lot should have known such names do not affect me).

1. Law students and bar aspirants are too dependent on AI for research writing. I have stopped assigning research tasks to juniors because I am tired of seeing “if you want more information on this topic I would be happy to help” and other AI lines inside research I give them to do.

Too many kids nowadays find it hard to even read articles online, talk more of open a hard copy text and research with it.

Ask them to draft a simple letter and they give you something written by Claude.

2. Poor Speech: Probably the last generation who were trained in the art of speaking are those of us born between 1990-1999.

I get disappointed when I ask some younger lawyers (younger because I am still a YL myself) to rehearse their oral adumberation in front of me and all I hear is “Em em, like, em…” no fluency, no use of fillers other than “em”, eloquence is lost because most would rather speak social media English “it’s not giving”, “clock it” than speak properly and it is affecting their ability to adumberate in court or even deliver regular speeches (even when you ask them to read the AI slop generated).

3. Everyone wants to be a social media influencer, they are no longer interested in legal practice (not limited to litigation). A law student will confidently say they are growing their X account and would prefer you support them with 1 year subscription on X than law pavilion subscription because “law no dey pay”. They will practically insult your finances as a senior and compare you to TikTokers just to prove their point.

It is very worrisome what the next 10 years of young lawyers will look like when they can’t even fact check what AI gives them for AI hallucinated cases, wrongly applied jurisdictional principles (why are you bringing in jury into our Nigerian law? Or 5th amendment?) etc just copy, paste and TikTok challenges.
