Healthcare systems are BROKEN! In order for me to take time off to recover from an infection I would have to use all my PTO before FMLA would take place. So if I need a few days off to recover, I can’t take my vacation next month. I also have to use my PTO for holidays. Between December 24th and January 1st I will be REQUIRED to use 32 hours of PTO to cover Christmas Eve and Day and New Year’s Eve and Day… it takes 10 WEEKS of working to earn enough PTO to cover that! So I will be working while my severely painful infection heals. Because taking vacation with my family and getting the mental health break is more important to me.
