I honestly Can’t believe the amount of stress an pressure international students are going through.Students who followed the legal path and did everything correctly are now stuck dealing with USCIS pauses!

We are not giving up.
We came here legally.
We followed the rules.
We stayed lawful.
We studied, trained, and earned the highest academic degrees possible.
We overcame obstacles few people ever face.
We fought for every opportunity we have.
We still do
We are people contributing to this country every day.
Lift the pause!
As an Iranian grad student, my work authorization delay, linked to USCIS holds on Iranian scholars, is now jeopardizing my upcoming thesis defense and graduation timeline. This uncertainty is critical.

The U.S. became a global leader because it welcomed talent from ANYWHERE.
Today, thousands of highly skilled professionals from 39 countries are left in uncertainty under the #USCISPause
When opportunity depends on nationality instead of merit, everyone loses, including America.

All legal immigrants from 39 countries in the US are under #USCISPause, which is freezing ALL the benefits for them. OPT-H1B-F2-J1-F1. PLEASE be our voice. Some lost jobs, some lost insurance, some became homeless, some are going hungry, families are torn apart. #LiftTheHold
Delays like this don’t just slow paperwork, they disrupt lives.
When legal applicants who followed every rule face extended waits, the impact is real for workers, families, and employers.
Timely processing matters.

Iranian professionals and scholars are powering America’s breakthroughs in science, technology, and medicine. Delaying their I-765, I-129, I-140, and I-485 applications hurts these vital contributors and weakens U.S. innovation itself.

The Trump Admin has frozen USCIS processing for Iranian nationals, putting 12,000+ students at risk of losing legal status. Forcing them back to Iran now puts their lives at risk from regime repression and an active war.
@SenMarkey and I are demanding immediate action.
@ReichlinMelnick This shows exactly what people have been saying, pausing legal applications based on where someone was born isn't just unfair, it's legally questionable. Glad to see some movement, but many are still stuck in limbo.
#USCISPause#LiftTheHold
Months of uncertainty for legal applicants is unacceptable.
Families, students, and workers who followed the law are being harmed.
@USCIS act now.
#USCISpause#LiftTheHold
@RepYassAnsari@SenMarkey Thank you for supporting Iranian students and professionals. We simply ask for fair, timely, and consistent USCIS processing,we followed the rules and just want the chance to keep contributing. #LiftTheHold#USCISPause
The USCIS pause is putting Iranian students and workers at risk of losing status and being forced back to Iran—where they could face persecution from the brutal Islamic Republic regime or renewed conflict.
@SenMarkey and I led our colleagues to demand answers and immediate protections for Iranians in the U.S. who cannot safely return home.
Stop punishing legal immigrants while funding dysfunction.
Yes! They are cutting funding from universities, NIH research, healthcare, and education,
at the same time USCIS continues collecting significant fees from legal immigrants for case processing.
But instead of doing its job, USCIS has effectively stopped processing since December, placing cases on indefinite hold. Lawful immigrants are losing work authorization, healthcare, and housing…
And yet, the priority is more funding for ICE and CBP.
Congress and the Senate must demand accountability from USCIS and ensure legal applicants receive the services they are paying for
not ignore them.

Iranian students who have studied in the United States and are prepared to contribute to its growth and innovation are now caught in prolonged application holds. These are lawfully present individuals who have followed every requirement and paid substantial fees for their applications, yet they remain stuck without resolution, unable to contribute where they are most needed.

I am trying to understand the current situation.
It is not clear why current applicants are not being vetted, while earlier cases are. What will happen to the applications that are now on hold? What are the criteria for these decisions?
Without clear answers, it is not possible for us to plan our lives amid constantly changing and unclear information.
It has now been nearly 5 months that USCIS benefit applications have been on hold, even for LEGAL applicants!

None of the Iranian students going through the USCIS process entered the U.S. unlawfully. We’ve followed a long, complex, and costly legal path. We cannot stay in“pending” without a clear timeline. No one can live indefinitely under constant uncertainty.
