Why are we threatening war with Nigeria? Here’s why:
Nigeria was the single largest recipient of Chinese construction financing in the first half of 2025, with $21 billion in construction deals, making it a focal point for China’s Belt and Road Initiative. In addition, in late October 2025, Nigeria and China signed a major $3.5 billion investment partnership. This agreement focuses on boosting Nigeria’s infrastructure, energy, and manufacturing sectors, including the construction of new solar power plants, modernization of rail lines connecting major cities and expansion of industrial parks. The partnership is seen as a transformative move for Nigeria’s economic strategy.
….But if the country is in ruin because of war in the name of “saving Christians” China can’t expand their belt and road. That’s the REAL reason we’re threatening Nigeria.
DOES TOO MUCH GARRI REALLY CAUSES BLINDNESS?
| MYTH OR FACT |
Garri, a popular staple food made from cassava tubers, has long been the subject of concerns regarding its potential impact on eye health (you may want to call it myth).
Raw cassava naturally contains cyanogenic glycosides, which can pose health risks if not properly managed during processing.
During processing to garri, cassava undergoes several stages; roots are peeled, grated, fermented (often for 1–3 days), pressed to remove water, sieved and roasted into granules. This processes significantly reduces cyanide levels.
The cyanogenic glycosides are broken down into hydrogen cyanide (HCN) when the plant cells are damaged (during grating). Well-processed garri typically has cyanide levels below 10 mg/kg, the safe threshold set by the World Health Organization (WHO) and Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
However, if processing is rushed or incomplete (e.g., insufficient fermentation or roasting), residual cyanide can remain, leading to cyanide exposure (above safe levels), especially in people who consume raw cassava or poorly processed garri.
The cyanide interferes with the body's ability to use oxygen by binding to enzyme (cytochrome c oxidase) in the cells of the eye, causing rapid energy depletion and cell and tissue death, including optic nerve damage (a nerve which transmits visual signals from the eye to the brain), resulting in blurred vision, reduced visual acuity, and/or colour vision defects.
Via another mechanism, long-term exposure to cyanide from not properly processed garri disrupts calcium balance in the eye lens, leading to clouding (cataracts) or damage to the retina's central area (macular degeneration), potentially causing partial blindness.
Nigerian commercial banks, in collaboration with network providers, are exploiting Nigerian citizens. They charge us for unsuccessful USSD transactions, which are literally their fault. This is unfair, and we Nigerians want it to STOP!
