The Eritrean people gained and maintained their independence through resilience and endurance. They are now entering a new era of getting rewarded for their endurance and sacrifice. Eritreans did not succumb to the countless sufferings but instead sufferings caused them to build endurance and strength, which form the unshakable national character.. 🇪🇷

Michael Rubin presents his latest attack on Eritrea as strategy. But the argument rests on familiar assumptions, selective claims, and a flawed reading of the Red Sea and Horn of Africa.

Sovereignty vs. Hegemonic Ambition: Ethiopia’s Expansionist Quest for Outlet to the Sea

The PP's deliberate conflation of commercial needs with territorial expansion – shifting from commercial 'access', to claims of 'ownership' ... to challenging 'the very legitimacy of Eritrean statehood' is not a matter of economic necessity and/or securing digital privacy. It is, rather, an obsolete hegemonic aspiration deeply woven into the very nature of the current Ethiopian regime. Such a stance represents a flagrant violation of international law and the African Union’s core principle on the sanctity of inherited colonial borders".

Great to catch up with Ms. Nahla Valji, UN Resident Coordinator in #Eritrea, during her short visit to New York. Our discussions reviewed the current portfolio of development projects and underscored the importance of aligning support with #Eritrea|s nationally defined priorities and long-term vision.
We also explored opportunities to deepen engagement in key sectors such as #tourism, an area with significant untapped potential, given #Eritrea’s rich cultural heritage, pristine coastline, and unique historical assets, including the #UNESCO-listed city of #Asmara. Strengthening partnerships in this space can serve as a catalyst for sustainable growth and job creation.
UNHCR Guidance Note on Eritrea Fact, Context, and the Politics of Omission
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 22 April 2026
Eritrea’s Response to UNHCR’s 2026 Guidance NoteThe Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Eritrea has issued a detailed rebuttal to the 2026 UNHCR Guidance Note on Eritrea, highlighting serious methodological flaws, source bias, procedural irregularities, and the politics of omission.
Key concerns include:
* Heavy reliance on a narrow, adversarial cluster of sources while ignoring Eritrea’s input and verifiable progress.
* Decontextualized claims on governance, elections, national service, and the Eritrea-Ethiopia boundary.
* Failure to acknowledge development gains in health, education, and literacy.
etc
Eritrea rejects the flawed document and calls for evidence-based, balanced, and transparent approaches.

President Isaias of #Eritrea reading of global and regional politics is uncanny. He clearly predicted that Iran was going to be attacked four months ago in his New year address. It is almost prophetic! He was planning the effects of an attack on Iran and how to deal with its consequences, before it actually happened. WoW!
Eritrea remained what many outsiders refused to acknowledge: an island of state stability in a highly volatile neighborhood.
