Allison (@alnicolefry) did her academic grandfather, Dr. Michael Bowers, proud by giving a phenomenal presentation on her work using fundamental gas-phase ion chemistry to enhance confidence in non-targeted PFAS identifications. She is truly our computational queen! 👑

🎉 Congratulations to Emily Vincent on the publication of her first, first-author paper in ES&T! 🎉

In this project, Emily analyzed antidepressants in effluent-impacted waterways in NC. Read it here! ⬇️

Two Baker Lab posters for Tuesday at #ASMS2026!

Sadie Disselkoen (TP538) is showcasing her work evaluating how fecal bile acid profiles change in relation to graft-versus-host disease outcomes. 🏥

Sarah Rehm (TP102) will be speaking about PFAS discovered in dogs! 🐶 as

Emily gave “the best presentation today” (a question-asker’s comment – not ours!) on her work evaluating bile acid dysregulation following early-life microplastic exposure. Fantastic job Emily!!

Monday is a BIG day for Baker Lab posters!! There’s a whopping 8 poster presenters from our group plus two lab alums!

💡Pro tip: if you want to find all our posters search “Erin Baker” in your #ASMS2026 planner!

Our first #TeamMassSpec run/walk club was this morning and we had an absolute blast!! We exercised, networked, and met new friends! Thanks to everyone who woke up early on the first day of the conference to hit the streets of San Diego with us!!

[Baker Lab UNC @BakerLabMS]

Just a reminder that the unofficial hashtag#ASMS2026 Baker Lab run/walk is happening tomorrow! 🏃🏻‍♀️🌅We will be meeting outside front entrance to the Manchester Grand Hyatt at 6:30 am! Open to all paces!

You can scan the QR codes or search the Garmin app to view the routes!

Congratulations to Sadie Disselkoen, who is officially a PhD Candidate!!!! 🎉

Sadie's prelim presentation focused on her work characterizing bile acids associated with fatty liver disease and expanding our existing in-house LC-IMS-MS bile acid library. Congrats Sadie!!

🐬 New paper out from our lab!

We present an optimized method for extracting PFAS from small volumes of milk. Then, we apply that method to look at longitudinal trends of maternal PFAS transfer in dolphins to highlight early-life exposure pathways.
