I was with this courageous soul at the Elem fundraiser for distressed Israeli youth in New York. He had survived being shot at the Nova festival, lying on the ground for eight hours while his girlfriend and another friend lay dead beside him. A week later his mother took her life as a result of the trauma of that day. Roei became a spokesperson for survivors but the pain became too much and two days ago he took his own life. With all the good news of the cease-fire and hostage release, let us remember that the impact of the savagery and sadism perpetrated Hamas - and the civilians who participated in the carnage - will continue for many years. Pray for the healing of everyone affected by this horror and pray that those who perpetrated it will be forever silenced.
