CYBER CRIME WING REGISTERS CASE AGAINST NAKKEERAN GOPAL OVER YOUTUBE REMARKS ON KARUR STAMPEDE

The Chennai Metropolitan Cyber Crime Wing registered a case against Nakkeeran editor R. Gopal, popularly known as Nakkeeran Gopal, following a complaint alleging that his remarks during a discussion on a YouTube channel were prejudicial to public order. Police have launched an investigation into the case.

The complaint was lodged by Nandakumar, who alleged that Gopal made objectionable remarks while participating in a discussion on the “Engal Desam” YouTube channel regarding the recent crowd crush in Karur.

Based on the complaint, the Cyber Crime Wing registered a case and began examining the contents of the video as part of the investigation.

Investigators were also collecting digital evidence connected to the programme and reviewing the material circulated on social media platforms.
