The west is well-represented at #UniforCC23. Transit workers spoke passionately to a resolution about the fight for good jobs, & locals representing @SaskTel workers spoke to the need to stop the piecemeal contracting out that cheapens customer service and kills good jobs.
Unifor local leaders in British Columbia met today to discuss union organizing in all sectors, from hotels to airlines to forestry. Growing unions will improve the standard of living in communities big and small. #canlab
CUPE Local 561 members are on strike for better wages and pension. They are now going in to their 6th week. Today I had the opportunity to speak to the female members to hear the current issues. Standing in solidarity ✊🏽 #unifor@BalbirMann7@RajinderPurewa7
Congratulations to our members in @UniforTheUnion Locals 111 and 2200 on ratifying their new agreement with Coast Mountain Bus Company covering 5000 Unifor transit workers. #canlab#bcpoli
Transit workers have been helping lead the way in B.C. for public sector compensation packages during a period of steep inflation increases. Their leadership will help set the bar high for other sectors. #bclab#canlab
Today I spent the morning with my Unifor local 111 women’s committee attending the Women’s Memorial March. This march is in remembrance & in honour of the lives of missing and murdered indigenous women.
Unifor members in B.C. are ready to get to work on growing our union and fighting to expand employment standards in this province to be the best in Canada. Watch the full wrap video: https://t.co/x5mlGjYgYD #bclab
Earlier this week I joined @lanampayne and @len_poirier to tour several jobsites where Unifor members work. We appreciated the hospitality and the opportunity to speak with rank-and-file members about their priorities. #bclab#canlab
