Love this. Hard to overstate how big an upset this. I actually went to HS for two years near Vanderbilt, and they were SEC punching bag back then too. Never went to any games tho. I did however see the Pixies (in their prime) at the Vandy gym. Trompe le Monde tour. Great show.
$YINN & $YANG (3x and -3x China ETFs) combined for $7b in volume this week, here's what that looks like vs their 14yr history. Chart of the week nominee.
I just checked and our database of 452,220 funds (both dead and alive) of all types around world, the word "loins" is in none of them. So would be a first-ever. Groundbreaking lol
I'm also intrigued by the Strategy A and Strategy B. So the name goes from overly-spicy to overly-generic just like that. A+ for juxtaposition, I'll give it that.
An amazing photo here if you stop and think about it: the largest asset mgr in world making a well-polished case for bitcoin to clients with ginormous chart of decimation of the dollar's purchasing power since the establishment of the Fed. Life moves fast.. h/t @thinkingvols
This is why IMO you have to be either totally biased or ignorant to pooh pooh the bitcoin ETFs potential/success. This level of salesmanship combined with low fees, high liquidity and a trusted brand name is effing powerful. (tbf I'd say same about almost all ETF categories)
WOW: ETFs globally took in $477b in Q3, which crushed the old record by 30%. BlackRock and Vanguard took in about $100b EACH. China added $65b, which is crazy high thanks to Govt QE spree. Total global ETF assets now $14T. We predict $35T by 2035.
OPTIONS APPROVED: SEC has just granted accelerated approval for the listing and trading of options on $IBIT. Here's the full approval. h/t @News_Of_Alpha https://t.co/NxcnzvuPmA
I'm assuming others will be approved in short order. Huge win for the the bitcoin ETFs (as it will attract more liquidity which will in turn attract more big fish). This is nice surprise re timing but not a shocker as @JSeyff and I gave 70% odds of approval by end of May.
Important note: This is just one stage of approval, the OCC and CFTC has to approve as well before they officially list. The other two don't have a 'clock' so not sure when they'll be approved. A big step tho nonetheless that the SEC came around.
Our ETF of the Month for August is.... $MGRO the VanEck Morningstar Wide Moat Growth ETF (MGRO) which is a sequel to the smash hit $MOAT and serves up growth with Buffett-esque screen. It's seen recent pop in volume and 1M returns via @SirYappityyapp
Big day for bitcoin ETFs yest which have set new high water mark of +$17.7b YTD (most imp number) as flows across rolling 1M turned positive. This is why holding the line during the 'one step back periods' is so huge, can get to working on new net YTD highs faster.
Superb chart from @psarofagis showing the % of money in passive funds by country, which shows just how early this trend is globally, also notable that active beat rates are about the same regardless of % passive which also hurts the passive excuse for active underperformance
