New account. Real purpose. I'm a high school basketball coach. Every week, I was rebuilding the same scout from scratch — Hudl on one tab, MaxPreps on another, a Google Doc in the middle, and a whiteboard that couldn't be printed. That's why I built Ball Coach AI.
@TheDZoneBBall Took Oxford from 6 wins to 23-2. Flips like that don't happen on accident — system, accountability, daily details. Goodrich kids are about to feel it. Welcome, Coach Laidlaw.
@TheDZoneBBall 18 years of JV reps shows up in possession quality. Players are about to feel the difference — earned spots, sharper detail. Welcome to the chair, Coach Whymer.
Summer install checklist for this week:
1. Pick your 2 base actions. That's it.
2. Run them out of 3 different alignments.
3. Drill the counter when the defense takes away option 1.
You don't need 12 plays. You need 2 plays you can run 30 ways.
@TheDZoneBBall Moving programs as a HC is its own offseason. New building, new kids — but the work doesn't change. Build the read and trust it. Pulling for him at JRA.
@TheDZoneBBall Interim guys who get the job have already proven they can run the room when everything's on the line. Clawson got a guy who knows the kids and the staff. Good get.
@rocketalumni Welcome to Rocket country, Coach Henderson. D1 background to HS — that's a level of detail kids will feel from day one. Pulling for a quick start to the era.
@TripleDoubleXO That's the part nobody tells you. The chair is heavier because it's quieter. Best HCs I know find a way to keep one or two voices in the room that'll tell them no.
@Coach_K23 Coach — pulling for you and the Jones program. State champ DNA from Dale, now you get to install your own series at Longhorn HQ. Rep the read, run your own ball. TTHL.
@TheDZoneBBall @wmottboyshoops @WaterfordMott Pontiac to Mott means he's already got the HC reps — knows what kills a possession in February, not just what wins one in June. Pulling for Coach Myers and the Mott program.
@TheDZoneBBall Internal promotion — best kind. Kids already trust him, families already know him. Now he gets to install what he believes, his way. Pulling for Matt and the Onsted program.
@TheDZoneBBall OU Hall of Honor as a player AND a coach is rare air. Stoney Creek's getting somebody who's already lived both sides of the bench. Excited to see what she builds.
Summer rule for my staff:
No new sets until August.
If a kid can't read a ball-screen coverage in June, no November play call will save him in February.
Teach him to play before you teach him plays.
Series, not sets.
@TheDZoneBBall Spring Lake alum coming home — that hits different. Walks in knowing the building, the families, the rivalries. Now it's about installing what he believes. Good get for the Lakers.
@WHS_CATS_BBALL Coach Carden welcome in. Wildcats family's lucky to land you. Best of luck this summer with the staff and the kids — pulling for Woodland.
@TripleDoubleXO This is the whole thing. Sets live in the playbook — reads live in the player. The ones who 'perform it automatically' are the ones who got reps seeing it, not just running it.
Tips for prospects during the live period this weekend:
Note: This is what coaches talk about, look for, and discuss behind closed doors.
1. Lean into what you do best.
When you focus on your strengths, you create your strongest work and produce.
2. Be competitive.
If you can be consistent with your effort and energy, your hustle plays will be noticed. Your desire to win will also be noticed.
3. Stay coachable.
Keep your attention on your coaches and stick to the game plan. A teachable spirit and team-first mindset elevates your talent.
4. Show positive body language during negative plays. Your body language introduces you before you introduce yourself
5. Be unselfish.
Take a charge. Move the ball. Make the assist. Block out.
6. Don’t listen to the nonsense!
