Glad you care about helping Memphis, Mr. Speaker. May I suggest you start by listening to the voters who overwhelmingly said yes to the three referendums less than a year ago.
Memphians spoke loud and clear on what they wanted to make us safe:
- 81% for requiring handgun permits and mandated safe storage
- 80% to ban assault rifles in city limits
- 84% supporting red-flag laws
I would say you could also stop taking checks from the gun lobby & pushing policies that flood our communities with more guns, but we know that won’t happen. So perhaps, just GET OUT OF OUR WAY let us do the work to keep our families safe.
If you want to make Memphis safer. Stop denying us the same resources and funding provided to Nashville especially, Knoxville and Chattanooga. You and Governor Lee have done the bare minimum for Memphis and have colluded with other state officials to sabotage this great city
That suffering is holy. A lot of it is man-made and avoidable. It’s not part of some bigger meaning or divine test. It’s not God’s plan or some higher purpose but the result of broken systems, neglect, and injustice.

This was barely a decade ago.
2 competent, fully coherent, men in their 50s/60s disagreeing at the margins about ways to make our society a little more productive. Nothing but respect for one another.
We’ve completely spiraled out of control politically since then.
