People all over the 🌎 have been misled by manufacturers labelling plastic balloons as biodegradable *without any supporting evidence that balloons actually biodegrade*
It's likely that every single🎈released in this 2021 video is still out there in the world somewhere as litter
Keep in mind that for options #2 and #3, include:
coordinates or location of balloon (**mandatory)
latex or mylar material
if there is a string attached
wildlife impact, if any
balloon setting (e.g., in tree, on ground)
a photo of the balloon

Hey there Twitter. Thought I'd 🎈🗯pop in with a rooftop research update! Balloons were left in three treatments: air, water, and soil. What do you think will happen to the #Balloons after 3 weeks? #balloonpollution#biodegredation
I am always down to promote your projects and initiatives 😍 - especially when they are as awesome as this one! Univ of Scranton undergraduate Ally McGee is collecting information on balloon pollution via an app - hear more about it here! 👉 @BalloonsPollute
Attention Twitter: the F.L.O.A.T. app is officially on the Google Play Store! Anyone can use it to report balloon sightings and contribute to our global map of #balloonpollution. Follow link to download. #CitizenScience#Conservation

It's clear that citizen science is the Swiss Army knife of research. There is no doubt we can use it to study #balloonpollution. Keep your eyes peeled for an important announcement coming up soon
(1/7) It can educate participants and raise awareness, like the citizen science approach did for high school students collecting data on marine litter. https://t.co/fVeQYQ2Syw
(6/7) They even went #birdwatching to discover atypical breeding in Northern Gannets, which was associated with man-made structures and plastic in nests.
