Do you stress about climate change? 🌍 ...yep, us to.
So, lets change climate change into climate action! If we all do a little we really can achieve a lot.
Pollution Prevention Event this Sunday 11.30am-12.30pm. Meet up at the Obelisk, Ballybrack Village. All welcome- young and old or bring a buddy and show them that litter picking is actually fun and totally addictive!!!
@Gitgoesdown@PadraigMcEvoy@PollinatorPlan Thanks @Gitgoesdown
I recognise your concerns but #Ballybrack has no grazing animals and certainly none in my garden!
Plenty of honey bees chosing my ragwort
The @PollinatorPlan recognises the value of ragwort to bees, see info on great yellow bumblebee https://t.co/CVnAg50GiI
If you have a wildflower area, it might start to look a bit tired at this time of year. This is a normal and important part of its cycle.
The flowers will soon drop their seeds and even more will grow next year, so hold off on the mowing.
August's seeds feed next years bees!
Q: The No.1 action to support pollinators on a business site?
A: Grassy pockets/verges/strips are the best/cheapest way of providing wild bee food. Why buy, when you can have beautiful native wildflowers for free? https://t.co/y9pgkiYovk @BioDataCentre PIC: O’Donnell Furniture
We have 3 climate action events next weekend ...
(1) Litter pick/clean up in Ballybrack
(2) Seed gathering - Yellow Rattle seed - Shanganagh Park
(3) Seed gathering- Bird's Foot Trefoil - Kilbogget Park
Seed Gathering/Scattering is a simple and best of all free way you can build #biodiversity in our parks, road sides and any waste land in our estates/community.
This "pool" shows how dry the ground was before the fire. Frogspawn here earlier in the year suggests frogs in the area. Hopefully they were able to leap to safety, but their food supply of ground insects and invertebrates will be limited in the run up to their hibernation...
Members of @Ballybrackact will be assessing the biodiversity loss on Mullin's Hill this morning after the fire.
At least one DLR Councillor is calling for an extension of @Fingalcoco Howth Goat 🐐 project as protection against future fires & the damage to property & biodiversity.
Firefighters have extinguished a gorse wildfire on #Killiney Hill tonight, two fire engines attended the incident
Crews also remain at the separate Mullins Hill site monitoring the location
