Bestla was officially retired at the City of King, North Carolina. K-9 Bestla had served the citizens of King since 2019.

K-9 Bestla had been diagnosed with cancer in late 2025 and sadly had her leg amputated in early 2026. Now she will live out her retirement with Sergeant Batterton and his family.
