Thank you @sophiescott2 well written. Public education on the role of Medicare in funding health care is as important. Most people have no idea! When people go to their GP and ask for tests to be ordered the GP has to decide how appropriate they are. If not, user pays!

@DrKate_Miller @RACGPPresident @brookmanknight @mariamtokhi @imaanjoshi You are so right @DrKate_Miller the hours spent going through pathology (after a long day’s work) which needs actioning, the numerous e mails patients send that need replying to, managing mental health in the community which often goes beyond an hour Medicare only pay for 40 min!

Damning report by @ABC when most of us have tried hard to do the right thing, be compliant with the monster that is @MedicareGov. Shame @ABC 7.30 report gave a one sided story shaming all @MargaretFaux. No credit for honest hard working doctors @RACGP who don’t rort the system 🥲

@RACGPPresident @RACGP @ama_media The alternative is for doctors to do the 25 minute phone call which is necessary but charge item 91891 (over 6 minutes however complex the problem is!!) and accept $39 for their trouble! Still want to do General Practice? #RACGP #medicare #MBS

Couldn’t agree more… prevention better than cure 🤔 ‘bulk billing’ a bad concept - and is never going to substitute adequate funding!

When you defund disinvest and disrespect General Practice the entire system begins to crumble.
This has been decades in the making and needs high quality government leadership to partner with healthcare leaders to fix.
Not a short-term fix. A proper well informed reform.
