This is a very painful and emotional situation. A parent losing a child in such a tragic way would experience unimaginable grief and anger.
But supporting the idea that a victim should personally decide and carry out the punishment is dangerous especially when it involves killing children. That becomes revenge, not justice.
Thereโs a big difference between:
โขJustice โ handled by the legal system, based on law and evidence.
โขRevenge โ driven by emotion, often escalating harm.
If everyone decided their own punishment after being wronged, society would quickly turn into cycles of retaliation. The legal system exists specifically to prevent that spiral.
Also, in this case, the alleged perpetrators were 9-year-old children. That adds even more complexity questions of supervision, intent, capacity to understand consequences, etc. Thatโs something courts and child justice systems are designed to handle, not individuals acting in grief.
