We are a coalition of LGBTQ+ orgs, campaigners & faith groups united to deliver a meaningful & effective ban on conversion therapy in Northern Ireland.
🗓 The consultation process should have been fully accessible from the beginning but if you haven’t been able to respond yet you now have until February 4th to have your say.
🚨 Every delay leaves LGBTQ+ at risk of harm.
🚫 Please tell the Government to #BanConversionTherapy
I am determined to stamp out conversion therapy and protect free speech.
I want everyone to be able to have their say on this important issue.
We have extended our consultation to ensure all voices are heard.

5 years since the UK first promised to #BanConversionTherapy.
@CommunitiesNI work with us towards research & legislation but nothing can happen without a minister or @niassembly.
Irish govt & @rodericogorman bringing forward draft legislation.
NI will not be left behind.
We're recruiting for people with specialist knowledge and experience to join our Northern Ireland committee to advise on our grant-making.
We spend around £1.5m a year on work which contributes to the ongoing transformation of the NI conflict.

Every day, LGBTQIA+ people face domestic and sexual abuse, stalking, harassment, and everyday misogyny and sexism.
@TRPNI research has shown 42% of LGBTQIA+ people in NI have experienced violent or harmful relationships.

5 years since the UK Government first promised to #BanConversionTherapy. But we’re still waiting.
Northern Ireland must not be left behind.

The Rainbow Project has responded to the news regarding a security alert in Portrush, County Antrim yesterday evening, where a suspicious item wrapped in a Pride flag was left at a home address. The PSNI are treating the incident as a hate crime.

We are deeply concerned to hear the reports of a security incident in Portrush last night where two suspicious objects were allegedly wrapped in a pride flag. Our thoughts are with all those caught up in this incident.
Any recommendation to include a "consent" clause will render a "ban" not worth the paper it's printed on & will not protect victims of #ConversionPractices.
@CommunitiesNI must make sure that any such loophole will not be present in our legislation.
Time to #EndTheShame
EXCL: The long-awaited ban on conversion therapy is finally sitting in the PM’s red box.
It now awaits his sign-off/changes but the current draft:
- covers sexuality & gender
- includes a ‘consent clause’ which won’t protect those who volunteer for CT

Today the funeral will take place for #BriannaGhey.
Our thoughts are with Brianna, her loved ones & the wider LGBTQIA+ community. Her family asked for people to proudly wear pink - we will.

In due course.....not good enough. You right Kemi is it not therapy. It is abuse and it must stop.
5 years and counting for the UK Govt to take action.

Conversion therapy will be banned in ‘due course,’ says Equalities Minister Kemi Badenoch
It comes almost five years after the Conservatives first promised to ban the practice
We are honoured to finally see the #BanConversionTherapyNI mirror in the incredible @array_studios Sibin today @UlsterMuseum.
Thank you for this incredible piece of art and celebration of the activism in NI. Pull up a seat as installation runs until September.
Roderic O’Gorman, Irish Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, today announced the publication of research into conversion practices.
This report on conversion practices confirms what we a that conversion practices are dangerous, harmful and should be banned. We will continue working with our partners across the Ireland & the rest of the UK to see a ban implemented as a matter of urgency.
We send our condolences to everyone impacted by the devastating & despicable murder of #BriannaGhey. While we hope for responsible coverage & commentary, there will likely be increased transphobia. Don't hesitate to get in touch with @trpni should you need support - 02890319030
Work continues on an all island ban on CT. We may have no assembly in the North, @BanConversionNI are working with partners across the rest of Ireland & @BanCTorg to make sure our voices are heard. We will not be left behind.
