Farmers are challenging BC’s mink farm ban in court, arguing it infringes on international & interprovincial trade and causes irreparable harm. Judge Ross denied a request for interim relief & dismissed the farmers’ application, saying it’s in the public interest.

Public Health has now put in place restrictions to prevent more mink from being bred on farms & a moratorium on new mink farms. This is great! But not enough.

Mink aren’t the only species of concern. The reasonable next step is to ban fur farming entirely.

This industry is dying & being propped up by AgriStability to the tune of 6 million dollars between 2014-2020. Why isn’t this money being used in a way that doesn’t pose a threat to public health & the climate?

As a result, @furbearers are suing the province & they have until the end of the month to respond to the lawsuit
