To each his own. Its a free country and there's nothing to stop you from voicing an opinion. Personally though I'm always amused to read comments like these as IMO it represents a shallowness of thought
Having AI generate an analysis is good or bad depending on the context. It takes reasoning ability to decide if something is good or bad in relation to what is being discussed. Coming to the same conclusion no matter the context shows poor reasoning ability
One minute there's noise that we should all be using AI to increase productivity, then the other is complaints when AI is being use. To me the issue is not WHY you use (or used) AI, its HOW you use (or used) it
If the aim is to give a short personal reaction to something then using AI is bad, as the comment is not an authentic representation of what you feel and can be seen as deception
On the other hand, if the aim is to provide insight so that persons get a better understanding of an issue, IMO its better to get an informed AI generated analysis rather than the ignorant, shallow and inaccurate slop that dominates Jamaican social media
If the purpose of a news analysis is to get more insight and depth into a topic, it doesn't matter to me if its AI or not. No one knows everything so I believe in continuous learning and growth. At the end of the day I believe we learn and grow 1000X more from an AI generated analysis than from an uninformed rant posing as serious commentary
GenAI is still in its infancy and Jamaica tends to lag in the innovation adoption rate, so I doubt that anything anyone presents was 100% generated by an AI agent.
I'm more willing to believe that a co-generation model (that all the thought leaders push) is being used.
Namely, incorporating AI in existing work processes so that AI does most of the legwork while HI (Human Intelligence) does the guidework
All of that is part of the scraps I mentioned.
This is a dynamic world, ports all over have been setting themselves up since the widening was announced. Jamaica had an advantage, but that has been eroded by the competition as they acted while we talked over Goat Island
You seem to have a lot of contacts all over, ask the Trinis what is oing on there, as well as what will happen 90 miles away if the Cuban communist party is overthrown.
Most importantly, the way things are going Asia and Africa will pass the US as the focus of world trade by about 2050, so the Panama Canal will not be as important. Not to mention Nicaragua and Mexico talking about their alternatives to Panama.
My point is that we should direct NaRRA to future opportunities, not dwell in the past. TT signed a data centre possibility MOU, we should be doing the same as we are better placed in renewables than TT
🔥 AI transition can lift productivity by automating routine work, but it can also strain staff morale and engagement if employees feel uncertain or undervalued
HR can play a critical role in the successful adoption of AI through clear communication, continuous coaching, and visible support that helps staff understand how their roles evolve rather than disappear.
Here's 3 ways HR professionals can ensure that AI adoption benefits the organisation without damaging engagement

IMO the core of the problem is a people issue. Short-sighted decisions are being made by less qualified and less experienced persons. From DOGE cuts to the Iran war, ideology has driven actions. The results are then hardly surprising.
Jamaica went through the same sort of issues of unqualified and inexperienced leadership in the 90's. IMO the challenges in the 70's and 80's were mainly caused by external events, such as the 1973 oil price shock and the 82-85 bauxite drop. The economic management decisions were not so catastrophic and deep that they could not be improved on, it was the external shocks that brought us down.
After decades of retrenchment the 90s had a favourable global environment, but poor management by people like Jacques Bussières meant we didn't capitalise on it while the rest of the world exploded
Luckily, the chaos will soon end. Hopefully sanity will return after the US mid-terms as the checks in the system will start to be enforced.
IMO Trump was elected because the frustration over the post-Covid inflation turned off a lot of US voters, especially the young. If a clear break with the past had been made, Harris would have easily won instead of a narrow defeat. Instead, the impression that she was a continuity candidate doomed her effort.
🔥 Continuous self-improvement requires your team to regularly reflect on their performance, identify opportunities for growth and take purposeful action.
Coaching supports this process by building self-awareness, strengthening accountability and encouraging individuals to continually improve how they work and the results they achieve.

No. Solutions to problems must always address the root cause of the issue or they will be a waste and have no effect. The root cause of the poor turnout is apathy, indifference and a lack of civic/national pride. Working the next day has nothing to do with it.
The proposed solution will just make the apathy etc much worse. Celebrating emancipendence on days that are neither Emancipation or Independence shows a lack of respect for their significance and will just deepen the "so what" attitude.
What we need is culture change efforts to make persons see these days as being of value. One such effort is business owners pushing to their staff what these days represent and why they should be honoured, instead of telling all that money is more important than self-worth, pride in accomplishments and respect for the struggles of their ancestors

Understanding the full context is always important. I would bet that:
a) One of the biggest selling points about the location was the peace and quiet of the environment
b) most people accepted it because they agreed that visitors after 9 were a nuisance that affected the reason why they went there (the peace and quiet),
c) the Gen Z objected as he/she was the one who had visitors after 9 disturbing everyone
d) the landlord made the change because numerous complaints were being received from everyone else.
Problem was they didn't go about the change the right way, but I'm sure that the rule is ineffect now. Thast is, if this is a real story and not just another one of the tons of fake click-baits around now
🔥 Basing expenditure estimates on the full life cycle of assets (ie. acquisition, operation, maintenance and replacement costs) improves cash-flow forecasting by identifying when funds will be needed and reducing unexpected expenses
This enables better budgeting, protects liquidity and supports the long-term sustainability of the business
