I remember Wenger questioning the Lampard → New York City FC → Man City loan
It was before Arsenal faced City in the Community Shield in 2014.
🗣️ “He went to New York first, and the shortest way from Chelsea to Manchester is not to travel to New York first. If you look at a map, there is a shorter way.”
Man City owns New York City FC.
Wenger said it at the time that were gaming the system.
Between 2008 and January 2014, Arsenal spent £11m net on transfers while Man City spent more than £500m net on transfers.
Arsenal were building the Emirates and operating within strict financial constraints, while City were spending hundreds of millions on transfers.
How exactly was Arsenal supposed to compete with that?
Devastating verdict by independent commission on Manchester City's rule breaches. Commission find City “guilty of all charges related to serious breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules over a nine-season period, and the majority of charges in relation to its failure to co-operate with the League’s investigation. The independent Commission found that between Seasons 2009/10 and 2017/18….
“Manchester City arranged ‘sham’ contracts (which misrepresented the true agreement between the parties) with a number of its commercial partners, as well as relying on ‘sham’ agreements with others, to artificially inflate the club’s revenues and reduce its costs.
“The club filed misstated accounts and concealed the true state of its finances from its auditors and football regulators.
“Manchester City was significantly in breach of both the Premier League’s and UEFA’s spending limits.
“During the Premier League’s investigation, Manchester City committed multiple breaches of its duties of co-operation and utmost good faith towards the League (three of the four alleged breaches were upheld).”

🚨 Premier League confirms Manchester City ruled guilty of every charge related to financial rule breaches across 9 seasons + majority of charges on #ManCity failure to co-operate with probe. Situation discussed w/ @JamesHorncastle@kvlmason@TheAthleticFC https://t.co/eqQJBGqzSu
It's just staggering reading.
- Inflating revenues and costs by more than £900m
- 'Sham contracts' and 'sham’ agreements'
- Committed 'multiple breaches of its duties of co-operation'
- Filed misstated accounts and concealed the true state of its finances
It just goes on and on and on..........

Man City guilty of ALL charges.
£900m is batshit crazy.
For context Everton got docked 8 points for £25 million.
The sanctions hearing will be an all-timer.
🚨 There is only one suitable punishment for Manchester City.
Everton were deducted 6 points for ONE financial breach.
So 114 breaches across 9 seasons × 6 points = 684 POINTS
So they should get:
❌ 76-point deduction EVERY SEASON
❌ For the next 9 seasons
If that sends them down through the divisions and into non-league football…
…so be it.
🚨💣 𝐒𝐄𝐂𝐑𝐄𝐓 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐄𝐃: Gianni Infantino helped broker deals that fined clubs €20m over inflated sponsorships linked to Abu Dhabi and Qatar owners. 😳🔵⚖️
FIFA president Gianni Infantino and Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak later met publicly at the Etihad before a Manchester derby.
That meeting came around the same time Football Leaks showed Infantino had already held private talks with City over FFP.
Those settlements avoided heavier punishments, including European bans.
Leaked 2018 documents showed he was involved in secret meetings and settlement terms.
The story has returned after Manchester City’s guilty verdict on 114 of 115 Premier League charges, with UEFA now under fresh scrutiny.
Fans have called him corrupt. Infantino has presented the deals as a practical way to keep the clubs in European football.
🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Manchester City found guilty on virtually all charges relating to breaches of Premier League financial regulations. #MCFC expected to appeal against verdict issued by independent commission. Sanctions undecided, process ongoing @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/Muxqp4beK9
Brighton beat Arsenal and their manager in paraded on talkSPORT and given a whole hour to talk about the win.
Mikel Arteta wins Arsenal their first Premier League title in 22 years, nothing. No interview, not invited to the building, not even a phone call.
This just shows how news worthy Arsenal are, we bring in the numbers, no one else.
🚨 As reported by Ben Jacobs, @LCFC look set to enter administration.
A 12-point deduction would follow, leaving the Foxes facing the very real prospect of relegation to League Two.
From Premier League champions in 2016 to this… an absolutely incredible fall from grace. 🦊📉
